fixed window size and tools toolbar

Hi, Probably I should split this email into two emails, but here it goes :) 1. Is there any particular reason for having fixed minimum size of Inkscape's window? For example, when Commands toolbar is hidden, Inkscape still thinks it's shown and makes it impossible to decrease width of the window. As a result, here the minimum width of window is 948 px, which may be okay for regular using (not in all cases), but clearly not okay for screenshots in documentation (think about screenshooting toolbars). Is it limitation of Gtk toolbars in common? Will splitting Commands toolbar into two or more mini-toolbars help? 2. There is a wasted space between toolbar's handle and the first item in Tools toolbar (the context sensitive one), see attached screenshot. That doesn't happen in case of Selector. Can we do something about it? Alexandre

I get this message: Testing removeRectangleOverlap(zero gaps)... eg0...OK eg2...OK eg3...OK eg4...OK eg5...OK olap6...OK loop0...OK loop1...OK loop2...OK random ints with 0 rectangles...OK random ints with 1 rectangles...OK random ints with 2 rectangles...OK random ints with 3 rectangles...OK random ints with 4 rectangles...OK random ints with 5 rectangles...OK random ints with 6 rectangles...FAIL: removeoverlap/remove_rectangle_overlap-test Is it worth sending such a report to this list. 'make check' did not report any problems lst time I ran it. The tests with the 'random ints' actually take a bit longer than any of the others and sometimes I get a message about an Alarm Clock. Does this indicate something fixable at my end, or a possible problem with the testing system... Or anything in particular? Ben

SVG Open 2006

I was looking to start planning my trip to Victoria and visited http://www.svgopen.org/ and saw a change in dates. I didn't see anyone else mention it on the list, so here goes... SVG Open has been postponed to October 16-19 in favor of a significantly better venue. I'm not sure who plans to go other than myself, so I figured I would share anyway. As for anyone else who is planning on going, we should probably start to try and figure out some basics. It's probably not too early to discuss such things (I'd like to at least know what others are planning on). -Josh

RSS feed not synced with website news

Hi all, I've just noticed that the RSS feed for inkscape.org[1] isn't synced with latest news on the website. It's currently missing at least latest post by rejon. Can anyone please check why and fix it? I remember the feed-generator script is called from a cron (which?), maybe the problem is there or in the switch between CVS and SVN repo... Kool hack, KDE filechoosers in Inkscape

In case anyone asks again for a KDE file chooser in Inkscape (like Sodipodi used to have) I thought I should point out this cool hack: http://www.kde-apps.org/content/show.php?content=360771 "quick-and-dirty LD_PRELOAD hack that allows *some* Gtk applications to use KDE's file dialogs when run under KDE" ... Can anybody give me the quick 2-minute overview on the relationship between the files in ./src/dialogs/ and the files in ./src/ui/dialog/ ? I know that ./src/ui/dialog/ contains a dialog manager of some sort, but the individual dialogs themselves are pretty skeletal, and the implementations of them seem to be in ./src/dialogs/. Obviously the ./src/ui/dialog stuff is newer since it's all namespaced and gtkmm-ified, whereas the stuff in ./src/dialogs is mostly C/GTK+ and non-namespace qualified. Is the intention to move the implementation stuff from ./src/dialogs into the classes in ./src/ui/dialog, or is the separation intentional? Speaking as a relative newcomer, it's a bit confusing to understand how these things all work together at first. thanks in advance, Jonner

Multiple SoC Filters

There are multiple student submitted proposals for implementing SVG Filters. This is a HUGE feature for us. Is there any possibility of breaking the implementation plan into bits so that two students could work on different parts of the problem? Aaron Spike
