There's been some curiousity about how many proposals were received, topics proposed, etc. etc. I think we need to respect the confidentiality of the process and the students, so we don't want to post the rankings nor the names of the students, however I think it's probably safe to list the titles of the proposals themselves, to help address the basic questions: Adding bitmap processing to InkScape Application for 'memory optimization' and 'bitmap capabilities' Application proposal Automatic kerning for text on path in Inkscape Bucket fill Filter Effects Gtkmm-ification of Inkscape Improving Python Effects API Inkboard Protocol Spec / Lib Conversion Inkscape / GIMP Bitmap Editing Integration Memory Optimization Memory Optimization New Grids PDF Export Extension PDF export capability for Inkscape Proposal for SOC06 Proposal for implementing colour definitions, as well as management of gradients and patterns SVG Filters SVG filters Standalone palette editor Support for SVG Filters Text Tool Improvements There are a number of factors that will go into determining which are selected, but ultimately the choice is going to be made by those participating in the mentorship process. killing gristle

So our recent inkboard excitement is having nevative effects on gristle. What can we do? I was thinking we should schedule a little debugging session with dmandell, but the outages have prevented me from contacting him. Aaron Spike

dialogs without decoration

Simon Budig (the guy who wrote the curve draging that we stole from GIMP) popped into IRC this morning because his document preferences dialog comes up with out decoration. http://www.home.unix-ag.org/simon/files/inkscape-problem.jpg After tapping F12 it comes back with decoration. Does anyone else using the sawfish window manager experiences this? He also mentioned that his dialogs appear on the screen in one place and seem to jerk away into position. This I can confirm on WinXP. And it seems that my dialogs here are not saving their positions across sessions, but I need to check that a few more times to be sure. Aaron Spike

whiteboard on windows

I've just uploaded a new library bundle: http://inkscape.modevia.com/win32libs/gtk28-060505.7z and committed the changes to the makefiles that gets inkboard building by default on windows. I think we should disable whiteboard in this release and provide an unofficial build with it enabled for those who are adventurous but why not play with it now. :-) You'll need to do a `make clean` again. Ctrl+scaling broken

Latest svn has ctrl+scaling (to preserve aspect ratio) broken. Carl, this looks like a side effect of your snapping changes, can you please look into it? Snapping nodes broken in SVN

I too would like to join in all of the 'make check'ing fun. But I recieve the following set of errors. Jon Cruz suggested that it mighte be a link order problem. Who can tell me how to set about fixing it? Hi all. I am posting here for I am applying for a Google Summer of Code project on Inkscape. My proposal is to implement filter effects to Inkscape. (for more details, please see http://www.cs.helsinki.fi/u/kiirala/soc_fe.html ) Bulia Byak, you asked for some C++ code. Here's one project I have done: http://niko.kiirala.com/polygoni.tar.bz2 (maybe not too good a project to show off: it may need minor modifications to compile - though on my computer it did compile.
