But, the way that would be ideal for that is having the extension tie into the "preferences" stage of the extension's evaluation. We've discussed this before. The problem is how to get the parameters in and out of the Inkscape preferences file. If you look on the menu, there is a way to call the last effect with the previous settings -- this is a very useful feature that I'd like to maintain. In order to do that, Inkscape needs to know the extension's preferences. I'm not sure of the best way to get this done. The only way that I can think of is to have the script return the preference values to STDOUT, but that doesn't feel like a good solution. Ideas are welcome. --Ted

have been using inkscape for a while and start to like it, but: -it occasionally switches my input settings from DE to EN (I have installed german and english input schemes) (I'm using Windows XP SP1) -I don't like the size of objects beeing measured inclusive their stroke width, this is unintuitiv -start and end markers of lines (e.g. arrow heads) are always black, no matter what color the line is -I would like to see, in the future, "magnetic" lines, corners, center points, intersections...as in Illustrator. ______________________________ BMW Group, ZT-1 Norbert Nitzsche Phone: +49-89-382-34132 mailto: Norbert.Nitzsche@...802... French translations

Hi Inkscapers, i've submitted a few patches with some French translations (I apologize for having worked so slowly): - update of .po file (I had warned Fred, the latest updater of this file last week) - synchronization with latest (well, until a few days ago) of basic and advanced tutorial the other tutorial are also arriving - added French to .nsi file - translated /Hacking & /Readme to French So my remaining tasks are : - finalising the remaining tutorials, and take the opportunity to update once more fr.po file (I really think that having some coherent vocabulary between software and tutorials is important) - convert them to docbook - update keys.xml I was wondering if some French-speaking guys would agree to share some efforts on translating the different release notes, plus some other readme files spread in the cvs. If yes please contact me so that we can synchronize on this regards, matiphas

Inkboard released v 0.2

We have released our second version of Inkboard. It implements the following changes: Added: -Initial document sending by instantiating user -Buddy list display and buddy selection in "Share with User" dialog -Sending of user's queue(necessary for chatroom usability in future) -Message filtering to ignore messages from old sessions Fixed: -Reliability of sending circles and other objects All-in-all, it's just more reliable and more usable. Multiline Textbox for Extensions

Would multiline text input be useful for extensions? I can think of three specific uses at the moment: http://sourceforge.net/tracker/index.php?func=detail&aid=1187444&group_id=9… Scala scale descriptions for my fretboard designer. LSystem rules. But all of these could be solved in other ways: line delimiters and extension specific GUIs. Thoughts? Aaron Spike

stupid problem creating woven ribbons

Hey folks, I've just started using this wonderful masterpiece of a drawing tool, but soon ran into a big problem. I wanted to create a web design with interwoven ribbons, and when I saw the calligraphy tool I thought my problems where solved. But one object can only have one z-index, not multiple - which does makes sense, but means the ribbon is either on top of or below another. So I thought, mmh... I might just slice them up in between and give the parts different z-orders, which actually worked. The problem is, I want the ribbons to have an outline, and so the seam has an outline too. And I have no clue how to get rid of that now - and can not continue on my design :( I have posted this on the request feature list already, but sorry I am so eager to get this behind and go on drawing... so I'm wondering what do you devs say about that? ..and thx for such a great program ;) Marcel

Units of coordinates

Hi, In Inkscape 0.41 on Suse 9.2, I always set the rulers and everything I can find on measurement to millimeters. Only the cursor coordinates, in the bottom left corner of the main window, is shown in some other unit (100 mm = 125 units). Is it possible to set this to mm's too? Tutorial conversion

We started to convert Inkscape tutorials into DocBook, with SVG and HTML (and potentially other formats) generated automatically by XSLT stylesheets. The Basic tutorial in English was the first to be converted; here it is in HTML: http://inkscape.org/doc/basic/tutorial-basic.html (obviously there's no interactivity in HTML, but at least it's now printable). If you want to help, pick your favorite tutorial (drop a note to the devel list first, to make sure it's not yet taken), check out the doc-docbook module from our CVS and follow the instructions in the file README to convert it into DocBook and extract illustrations as separate SVG files. This is simple work but it will be great help to the project, since it will make much easier to update tutorials, translate them into other languages, and write new ones. Oh, and if you want to edit or translate or tutorial, please wait until it's converted and work with the DocBook version. (Better yet, convert it yourself :) -- bulia byak Inkscape.
