The Inkscape book is online.
Its looking great! We need to get the word out. Remember all the
proceeds go to the development of the manual - one idea is to sell
copies so we can afford doing another inkscape book sprint. So..to help
promote the book it would be great if anyone with a website log etc
could cut and paste the following into their site:
This will show the book in a small 'ajax' insert in your page and link to the page with more info about it and a link to buy the book.
There is more info on configuring the embeddable shop if you look here:
2 euro (about 2.5 USD) is made from each sale. The team can then decide what to do with the $, I personally hope it will go towards another book sprint. FLOSS Manuals takes no $ but I hope the team will make a donation to FLOSS Manuals from sales to help us build and maintain the tools/community etc.

Very beautiful i love the two covers.
Just un the second text are not visible with the background under the text.
Thanks to Lotte
Is set up with three ready to go translations of Inkscape_en:
de, br, ru
I have left the rest because we need to train someone to do this and its
best we do this with something real.
This is the FM translation zone and it will change a bit in look and
feel to differentiate it from FM in general. In essence it is a temp
zone, the idea that we want complete FM lang communities, so if we use
this for translations and build up a lot in any one lang we will then
start discussing a full FM install for that lang
ok...it is doubtless that we will need to tweak the FM translation zone.
I dont know how br,ru, or de char sets work in the editor...thats the
first thing to check...also I need to find a god way to be able change
the lang of the editor etc
so, patience is a wonderful virtue :) if u find something kookie let me
know and we can have a look quite quickly to see how to resolve it...
in the meantime my priorities are coffee and gym :)...back in a few hrs

I removed the chapters marked 'incomplete' from the index. This included
the following chapters:
Render (Effects Menu)
Generate from path
Boolean Path Operations
Rows and Columns
Grids and Guides
ALL bitmap chapters
Hot keys cheat sheet
Inkscape and Wikipedia
You can see it all here:
I have also renamed index items as they had explanations in the titles.
The FM index system at this time cant display this well so we need to
keep titles short. Even though I removed a lot the index is still
thorough. If anyone can go through the chapters with me and check things
we can have a version online within a few days. I really think we need
to do this as otherwise all that good work will be out of date and never
Anyone want to chip in?

Well, both EN and FR manuals need lots of work before adding them to the bookstore...
I'll try to free some time after january 2009 for the french part, but I can't do anything before.
The exported PDF is 200+ pages! Seems huge to me, even if the subject is complex and wide. What about making it more compact, so that it could be easier and faster to release as a finished manual? And work on the parts we put aside afterward?
