To: Inkscape translators <inkscape-translator(a)lists.sourceforge.net>,
ryrych@...2...
hello,
I've gathered a small group of people - the group consists of:
me - Wojciech Ryrych, translator,
Monika Płaza - proof-reader - she graduated from Polish philology
Leszek Życzkowski - supervisor (especially QA)
Currently our team is translating Inkscape tutorials. The whole work is
almost done and will be available until Inkscape 0.48 release.
So, could you create a special page for Polish translation, please?
best regards,
Wojtek Ryrych :)

Inkscape book on Floss Manuals
by Joshua Facemyer
A little PR for the Inkscape Docs team:
We recently got our Inkscape Manual (the fruit of our Book Sprint) put
on Lulu (http://www.lulu.com/content/4617381). You've probably seen the
article by the Russian on the inkscape.org which has a link - if not,
check it out!
The published book, while being a reasonably finished work of good
quality, is not comprehensive. We would like it to be more so. Here
are some things that will help us to continue with this work:
1. Sales of the current version (somewhat limited 1st EDITION!!!!) on
Lulu will help us afford a future Booksprint.
2. Contributions to the manual on our Floss Manuals workspace are
greatly needed. Of course, as this needs some coordination, it's best
to start on the inkscape-docs list (signup at lists.sourceforge.net) to
find out where to begin.
3. Magical powers to generate whatever good thing we want without much
effort.
If you can help with any of these things, that would be GREAT! In
particular, getting word out and posting the link to the Lulu store
would be of great benefit.

more on the book
by adam hyde
hey all
I was wondering a few things about the book...
First up...can we get this put prominently on the Inkscape site? :
<img src="http://en.flossmanuals.net/bookstore/bookstore.gif"/>
<style>
@import url("http://en.flossmanuals.net/bookstore/bookstore.css");
</style>
<script src="http://en.flossmanuals.net/bookstore/bookstore.js" type="text/javascript"></script>
<script type="text/javascript">
FM.init({"paging":false,"preferred":["Inkscape"]});
</script>
Next...can everyone that was at the sprint send me your postal address. I would like to send you a copy of the book.
...
LGM : It seems the LGM will be in may in Montreal...it also sounds like the meeting will have several days for people to work together...how about a second book sprint during the event to take the manual further?
related to this are two other issues :
1. we can get a ISBN number (FM can pay for it, its about 100 euro all up). If we do this the book will be listed on Amazon etc...do you want me to do this? If so we need to edit it a little as I noticed a few oddities in the printed version. Its a days work but we need a 1 -day mini-sprint (remote) to clean it up.
2. if you decide a 'yes' on the LGM and ISBN then i have another plan too...how about we combine efforts to promote the bejeebers out of the book (especially before christmas) and see if we can sell enough to pay for everyone to get to Montreal?

Inkscape Book
by adam hyde
hi,
The Inkscape book is online.
Its looking great! We need to get the word out. Remember all the
proceeds go to the development of the manual - one idea is to sell
copies so we can afford doing another inkscape book sprint. So..to help
promote the book it would be great if anyone with a website log etc
could cut and paste the following into their site:
<img src="http://en.flossmanuals.net/bookstore/bookstore.gif"/>
<style>
@import url("http://en.flossmanuals.net/bookstore/bookstore.css");
</style>
<script src="http://en.flossmanuals.net/bookstore/bookstore.js" type="text/javascript"></script>
<script type="text/javascript">
FM.init({"items":1,"paging":true,"preferred":["Inkscape"]});
</script>
This will show the book in a small 'ajax' insert in your page and link to the page with more info about it and a link to buy the book.
There is more info on configuring the embeddable shop if you look here:
http://www.flossmanuals.net/bookstore
2 euro (about 2.5 USD) is made from each sale. The team can then decide what to do with the $, I personally hope it will go towards another book sprint. FLOSS Manuals takes no $ but I hope the team will make a donation to FLOSS Manuals from sales to help us build and maintain the tools/community etc.
