My guess is that he is aware of our attempts to make Inkscape usable - that is reflected in the "making their app a graphic tool" part, because a graphic tool is what he's interested in too. "save as copy" or "export"

I'm not totally up to date with my cvs and not sure if it is worth compiling a new version of inkscape. But I was wondering, if there is "save as copy" menu item, just as in gimp. You know, when you want to create an ps, or eps, you do want to save the changes into the svg as well. You could also think about extending the functionality of the export dialog to handle the .ps .ai and .eps and what ever formats as well. What do you think about this? David -- Windows is not the answer. It's the quesition. The answer is "No!".

lock icon in the selection mode

It seems counter-intuitive to click the lock icon and then when scaling from the dragbars to not have the aspect ratio locked as well as when entering numbers manually into the input field. I think that once that lock icon is clicked, that it should turn red or something and then lock the handles on the selected objects to scale at the current aspect ratio. FYI.
