Hi! I recently discovered the hidden function 'gradient mesh" I know it is still under development but I consider it WOW. :) It is a great tool and I hope it will be included in the new version. I try to find the developing version 0.92, but I found for download only version "Inkscape 0.91+devel_64bit r14690" and in this one I did not found the mesh tool in the tool box... I read that 0.92 is not yet released for test. Maybe I am wrong? Is there any place wher eI can find 0.92 for testing? I make a post in the inkscape forums *Board index General Inkscape Topics Inkscape Ideas , called " Gradient Mesh Tool - first results after testing"* with considerations of my test. So I put here my comments, sustained also by pictures for proving what I mean to say. I have 1 recommandation and 2 "bug comments" (or maybe I don't know how to handle the tool properly...) that I want to make. 1. Recommandation It would be interesting to have the possibility to have a function that a allow the mesh tool to automatically pick up the color from the visible layers (except the working one, of course) for all / selected points. The layer from which the color is selected can be from underneath layers, or all layers, all VISIBLE layers, etc - this function can have more options. I spend a lot of time in "collecting" the color that I need from the underneath layers and this will really help 2. "Bug" number 1. Sometimes when I try to move a handle, the lines disappear and I must use CTRL+Z to get them back (but I cannot move the handles, because ANY handle moved, provoke this issue). To be honnest, I don't know how I reach this situation, it is happening only for one of the objects I use. See Picture Bug1 3. "Bug" number 2. Objects created with this tool (the hidden gradient mesh tool) cannot be moved / flipped, etc. In fact, they can, but they became invisible... See Picture Bug 2 (mouth original and duplicate the mouth then moved it - the square shows whre the duplicate mouth is, but it is invisible). I tried tu "move up" the object, I even hide all other layers - but unfortunately, the object remain invisible. It became invisible after the first action did to it - flip, move, rotate, etc. This is annoying because I wanted to use the first eye asa a base for the second, but now I must re-draw it from scratch... Participation in LGM [Design]

Hi again Xavi. I think is great a group focusing in UX inside the proyect. We also have some proposal to improve the UX, and hope we can remix all in a super usable app. About your travel, to me seems very good you take free time to came to the hackfest one day, thanks, anyway, this is only an idea i send to you, the question to the comunity: Whats the opinion about 2-3 people came to hackfest? We can close it?, If anybody think is better meet us on LGM we can search for a convenient place/time to do it. Python extensions

Hello, As you may know, Python 3 release introduced a break of compatibility with Python 2.7. Currently, Inkscape Python extensions (and the inkex.py file) is only compatible with Python 2. It is possible to make the code compatible with both versions, but some external modules (such as six or python-future) are necessary. I think it is necessary to switch to a Python 3 compatible codebase, to attract new extensions developers, and for the ease of maintenance. What is your opinion on this matter ? Raphaël

I just update the trunk branding folder. I try to reopen de discussion for a open font for "Inkscape" text like for "Draw Freely" to include in branding folder and in the website instead the current Calluna Regular, not free. I just remember Gez put one on the list he like. Any thoughts? LGM Video : Code review needed for Jabier's excellent rotate objects LPE improvements.

Hi everyone! I need a quick favour... I've worked out the script for the LGM video, and there's one last piece missing from the lineup: I'd absolutely LOVE to add Jabier's massive improvements to the LPEs : 1. "Rotate copies" opendesignstudio.org/inkscape/LPE_rotate_copies_fusioned_paths_jabier_mod.o… 2. "Mirror Symmetry" http://www.opendesignstudio.org/inkscape/lpe_mirror_symmetry_jabier_mod.ogv In these videos I've taken bits of Jabier's Youtube screen casts (with permission of course) to combine them into these quick demos that show what has been changed. The credits at the end are my own doing. Sorry about using the same music, for both. :) Anyway... As you can see, these additions push the LPE to a whole new level of usefulness that is frankly drool-worthy, a massive time-saver, and is an excellent example of the raw graphics power Inkscape is capable of. Since the LGM video is very much about eye-candy for the state of the project, these are fireworks that are simply essential to the lineup. If someone could help us commit these few essential modifications, it would help tremendously! Thanks in advance! -C

Development Project Management System

Hi everyone! My name is Vatsala Swaroop and I am a final year undergraduate studying Electronics and Communication Engineering in National Institute of Technology Nagpur. I went through the ideas list and "Development Project Management System" really sparked my interest! I have a decent background in Python and have extensively worked on multiple Django projects. I also have a good amount of experience in handling Project Management Systems. I went through the related material provided in the Project description. I have cloned and installed all the requirements required for the project. However, I am getting a particular error when I tried to open the site on my localhost: "TypeError at /en/admin/login/ object.__new__(X): X is not a type object (WSGIRequest)" I explored the traceback and saw that the error stemmed from "debug_design/template.py" in the following lines: 44. obj = super(Themer, cls).__new__(request, *args, **kwargs) Can you please tell me what should I do about it? Also, I saw the two patches rule on the page. Are there any specific patches/tasks that I could solve so as to get a better understanding of the website? Line height with fixed units

Dear Developers, I've committed into r14701 a line height units box. All the functionality seems to work as expected now, but I expect some issues for anything that messes with the units (always do) so please test. I expect you to see one bug which Tav said he'd work on: line height is currently not rendering correctly per line. So a large line and a small line aren't doing quite the right thing together.
