margin when exporting to pdf

Hi all, When I export to PDF, I generally use "area is drawing", (that has now been renamed to "exported object's size" but should be "selected object's size" I believe, or in case nothing is selected "drawing size" or something that current users will recognize). To create a little bit of breathing room for the drawing, I would like to add a little margin to the area of the drawing. Does this make sense to you to add to the export options? "Extra margin: 10 px" or whatever unit. Cheers, Johan

Hi. Im trying to optimice the spiro live curves. My first effort is to use the value in "/options/dragtolerance/value". But i need to know the previous position of p in SPEventContext. Could be posibol make a global var or is better save to a file? Or another option to save data temporary outside a function? Thanks in advance.

Thanks Johan. There are another posibility, is to calculate the spiro line in function of 2 vars, position and time, instead now is in every movement. The optional show of spiro could be another posibility but first test this option. The spiro calculation is a very big step to me now. Too i see the node tool for look his calculation of redraw the livepaths effects. I see how to implement and post. Hi.

Exporting or rasterizing clip or mask areas ?

Am I wrong or missing something. I don't figure how to rasterize or export to bitmap only the cliped or masked area of a drawing. It always export the whole drawing. rev 11761 and other devels before. ivan

Save window geometry options in preferences

Hi, I have been working with Inkscape in the past on a spare-time single-user basis. Now I started to look into using it for producing graphics in a collaborative environment and I ran into some problems. I'm looking at SVG because it is a standardized and flexible format. More to the point, it is text-based, which makes it so much easier to work with in terms of version control and simultaneous editing. The following discussion concerns Inkscape 0.48 on Windows. I noticed that my window layout, among other things, is being saved by default to the Inkscape SVG file. As, this is not a good thing when collaborating with other people, because everyone will mess up each others environment, I tried to turn it off in the Preferences. Then I couldn't get the "Windows -> Remember and use last window's geometry" option to work. When I turned it on, the window layout was still being saved to (and loaded from) the SVG file. Only when I choose the "Don't save the window geometry" option was the saving omitted from the file. This seems like a bug, and I couldn't find it in the issue tracker. I would like to discuss some solutions. One alternative is of course to make the current intended behavior work. This means that the "Remember and use last window's geometry" option should only save window layout info to user preferences, not to the file. An alternative that I think makes more sense is to still save the layout along with each file (because different projects motivates different layouts), but to save them in a separate user settings file. So if I saved my foo.svg I would also get a foo.svg.user, or something similar. Actually I think all the attributes in the sodipodi:namedview tag could be moved out from the SVG to the user settings file, because they are all related to the work environment, and would differ from user to user. The benefit of having two files is that the user file can be excluded from version control and be kept locally for each user, while only committing changes to the actual SVG image. Also, at the moment when using the option to save layout to the SVG file, changes to the layout does not mark the file as dirty. If I just change the window layout and press Save, nothing will be saved. I have to modify an object to make the file save-able for the layout to be saved. What do you guys think? Hi. Im starting whith a branch for made B-Splines in inkscape. I have a problem compiling effects-cpp whith the "-" symbol. I check another Live Effects whith the same problem but im not sure about what is better. The name of the lpe is "B-Spline" but i want to ask whats better use 2 kinds of name (ex- "B-Spline" && "B_Spline") or use another name like "B Spline" && "B_Spline" or "BSpline" && "BSpline". Its a basic cuestion but i want to start ok. Finaly the cuestion are: What is better? * BSpline * B-Spline -problem compiling * B Spline Thanks and sorry for my bad english.

It looks like Inkscape render all primitives even if they're not "connected" to output. Exemple Create new filter. Add a Fill => rendering is lightning fast. Add 50 blur stages with a 100 px radius => it should be slower or way slower or ssslllloooowwwweeerrr (depending on your hardware). Logical. Move the fill at the last stage of pipeline. Still slow. It shouldn't. It's uneccesary to compute any blur stage at all. You'll ask why the hell do you add unnecessary stages ? When I design filter I often ask myself "what will it looks like if I disconnect these block of 5 primitives " As adding primitive is very slow with the current interface (*) I don't remove the block but I only disconnect it. As time goes by there are more and more dead blocks and I sometimes forget to remove them. I'm not 100% sure but I think I saw dead blocks in filters fitting with inkscape * any news about this blueprint ? http://wiki.inkscape.org/wiki/index.php/SpecFilterEditorUI No ? So I should think about buying a new monitor. Mine (1920*1200) is too small for designing filters. lol
