Hi, For a reason I may not yet announce I need our logo in EPS file format. Unfortunately Inkscape still has no idea how to flatten transparencies when saving to PS/EPS. Before I go tweaking the SVG to get rid of them, I'd like to find out if somebody did this job before, so that some time could be spared. round and bevel edges of any kind of shapes ?

Status of dbus awareness

Howdy, I just built the inkscape trunk from bzr and ran this script #!/usr/bin/python import dbus bus = dbus.SessionBus() inkdoc1 = bus.get_object('org.inkscape', '/org/inkscape/desktop_0') doc1 = dbus.Interface(inkdoc1, dbus_interface="org.inkscape.document") im = doc1.image(100 ,100, '/home/ktenney/Firefox_wallpaper.png') Which worked on a dbus branch a while back. Now it starts inkscape, but does not place the image - was the dbus code merged? - if so, how do I enable/use it? - if not, where is dbus capable code? Thanks, Kent

After R19 of devlibs everything is fine. Got a new completely rebuild. Hi, i get the following error: Make error line 299: problem compiling: src/xml/repr-io.cpp: In function 'Inkscape::XML::Document* sp_repr_read_file(const gchar*, const gchar*)': src/xml/repr-io.cpp:297: error: 'XML_PARSE_HUGE' was not declared in this scope Can someone else build 9775 on windows? Bug reports in portuguese

The brazilian inkscape community is very active. But lots of people are not familiar with english. So there seems to be a need for a community effort to proxy their bug reports and feature requests into our official bugtracker (by translating them into english). I am not sure whether launchpad has a feature to enable that. But I would like to install a launchpad server to host bug reports in portuguese and I'd like to know whether there is some feature that would help us keep some kind of relation between equivalent bugs in both systems so that we can minimize the human effort to keep both systems fairly synchronized. I'd like to have bug status, tags, metadata, etc.. all shared and synchronized so that the only human effort would be the actual translation of user comments. But if we dont have such features, I still would like to try to setup the best system we can in order to allow greater user participation. Felipe "Juca" Sanches

Accessing Inkscape document data as it is generated

Hello all, Haven't posted a message here in a long time -- hope things are going well! I've received a message asking about the best way to access Inkscape's document data as it's changed. His project involves serving document data from Inkscape to locally-running programs, for which he plans to use DBus. The questioner prefers to remain anonymous for now. My initial response recommended implementing Inkscape::UndoStackObserver, much as Inkboard did, as it's an easy way to obtain a stream of transactions on the document. However, questioner's concern with this approach was that listening for changes on the undo stack wouldn't capture intermediate states of actions, e.g. motion along a path. He brought up another possibility, which was to send changes in batches at short intervals (using, say, Inkscape::XML::NodeObserver). I'm no longer familiar enough with the Inkscape codebase to give an opinion on how well this would work, nor do I know if there's been any changes in the past few years that would make this sort of thing easier. Can anyone help out? I can offer clarifications as necessary. Thanks, - David

May I ask why EPS? Even the position of its creator is to move forward to PDF. I usually find myself trying to import/export proprietary formats but if I send the "wrong" format to my providers they ask me to export it again in their preferred format. I wonder why we have to worry about this and not them, since we can do PDF or even SVG (which doesn't seem to be very well supported by some commercial and people can't complain, by the way). I know saying this won't solve anything and it's not very helpful, just my two cents.
