Hi, verbalshadow and I were looking at config.h and inkscape_version.h. Could we reduce our generated files by 1 and remove inkscape_version.h? It seems redundant. It only defines INKSCAPE_VERSION , rather than VERSION, and is used by aboutdialog.cpp. Can we move this to config.h like everyone else does? ^^ bob

Hi all, in the last two days: - on startup: ** (inkscape:18931): CRITICAL **: gdouble sp_document_height(SPDocument*): assertion `document->root != NULL' failed - widgets in the Gradient tool controls are all squeezed together without intervals - a green fish skeleton (!) is visible above the canvas on startup or loading any document - not an object but some stray helperpath display, likely from a broken LPE Please whoever committed stuff recently, look over your commits and fix this :) -- bulia byak Inkscape. Configurable upper options bars?

I've just noticed that in Firefox you can configure the upper toolbars by right-clicking and selecting "customize." Then you can drag and drop elements wherever you want and/or drop them into a box to remove them from the bar. Will Inkscape be able to do this? As options are added to the various tools, their option bar start to become too long for computers with smaller monitors (especially small laptops), when most people won't need All the options at a time. The drop-down is an awkward workaround for many at best, and right now you can't chose the ordering either. The Firefox solution is in my opinion a rather nice one. When Inkscape's toolbars migrate to XML (was that it?), would it have the same level of configurability? If so, how long would it take, as it'd affect whether I try to come up with some GUI designs as options to an existing tool or as a separate tool (I'm not adding them to options of an existing tool if it makes the option bar twice as long as before)?

OSX native compile error

Looks like both were problems. I copied the definitions of IS_FINITE to 2geom/isnan.h and switched to gcc-4.0 and it compiled fine in about 4 hours. It seems to run fine, but I was having font problems. However, I recently screwed up my system fonts and I need to restart, which should fix the problems. bitmap rendering is too slow

Hi to all, I use inkscape and I am happy of it. I am writing here because I realized export bitmap function is too slow in particular when there are some object with blur option sets high. If I save the drawing in plain SVG and import it with gimp it take just few seconds instead many tents of minutes. I hope this help you to grab from gimp a more efficient algorithm which may be used to rendere the draw too which, with blurred object, is very low too. However I see that inkscape rendering is slight better than gimp's one but in many low-res application and in show-and-try-again or in view rendering such excellence are not required and takes too much time. Cairo PDF output and pdflatex issues

Hi Folks, I'm running the Inkscape distributed with Ubuntu 8.04 [Inkscape 0.46, built Apr 7 2008] and PDFLatex included with the distribution. When I save a drawing from Inkscape as 'Cairo PDF' I am unable to include it into my document with pdflatex: PDF inclusion: Page Group detected which pdfTeX can't handle. Ignoring it. I suspect Cairo export is configured to export page groups in anticipation of multi-page Inkscape in the future.... but this is speculation on my part. What is apparent, however, is that Inkscape cannot be used as a drawing companion with pdfLatex out-of-the-box on the latest Ubuntu. This is (for me at least) a break in my workflow. Any suggestions for a workaround? cheers, richard

Anyone up to manning a booth?

Hi, I was just wondering if anyone might be up to manning a booth for LugRadio Live UK? http://lugradio.org/live/UK2008/ It is coming up fairly soon, but as of the beginning of the week they still had some room for exhibiting. I won't be able to make it, but the one in the USA was very good. If anyone could make it there to have an Inkscape presence, we could get together demo art, fliers that can be printed, etc.

GTK file dialogs on Windows

I didn't realize these new native file dialogs on Windows were going to completely replace the GTK ones. I actually find the GTK ones to be easier to use because of those handy user links you can make on the left, and because of the way incremental search works. I figured there would be something in Preferences to bring back the GTK dialog, but I couldn't find such a thing. Is it just hiding from me somewhere? --bb
