Global snapping toggle

Hi, More than once it has been requested to implement an easily accessible toggle for snapping, be it either through a key-binding, menu-item or icon in the toolbar. This is very easy to implement now we have such a toggle (which is currently only accessible through the document properties dialog). If we add a menu item, we could put it in the view-menu below "Grid" and "Guides". Should I add it? And is there maybe a better place which I overlooked? We don't really need an icon then, or do we? Difference Between Print and Print Direct

Hi Everyone, I was just in the process of fixing a small problem with the parenting of the Print dialog to stop it sinking beneath the document window, and I noticed something that I don't quite understand. What's supposed to be the difference between "Print" and "Print Direct"? - because right now, in terms of code, the menu options do *extactly* the same thing - that is show the print dialog, and allow you to print. Is Print Direct about to become a useful feature, or has something odd crept in here? Thanks Joel Holdsworth

BUG HUNT

Almost as exciting as the about screen contest is our other release tradition: The Bug Hunt! Starting today, our goal will be to fix 500 "points" worth of bugs. High priority bugs are worth 9 points, Med are 6, and Low 3. We also now have 'Critical' bugs. We'll give 12 for those. In the past we've found the Bug Hunt to be a fun way to work towards getting attention on bugs that have otherwise been languishing in the tracker. We only give points for true bug fixes - not bugs simply closed due to being dupes, invalid, worksforme, or whatnot. Previously we would count fixes to the website, translations, docs, and so on, but this time let's award points only for true code-level bug fixes. While our Frost goal is to close 500 points worth of *any* bug, when we get to Freeze our goal will be to have 0 Critical bugs, so efforts put into closing Crits will be doubly good! Good luck everyone; I'll post the first scoreboard tomorrow. Problems trying to Compile Inkscape on tiger PPC

I have been trying to compile Inkscape on tiger ppc last night without success. I have been following the steps described on: http://wiki.inkscape.org/wiki/index.php/CompilingMacOsX When I tried to install al dependencies using sudo port install cairo +pdf boehmgc gtkmm intltool libxslt lcms popt poppler boost gnome-vfs Freezes when appears: ---> Building dbus-glib with target all there is no error but it's have been there stopped for hours, If I take a look with the activity inspector I can see that process is consuming 0% of processor. any advice?

Tango icon theme, take 2

It's nearly finished as far as I can tell, still missing some 3D box icons but I don't know what they should look like. Major changes since last version: *all icons are done *changed look of raise/lower icons *"tweak" tool uses "smudge" icon from art libre set *transform icons taken from art libre set *align icons taken from art libre set (or extrapolated from their style) problems: ink pressure/tilt settings don't show (but the old ones do for some reason) some icons are taken from the desktop's icon theme and so the layer icons should match the ones in the layer dialog but don't match on all platforms same goes for paste icons like paste in place that don't always match the look of the generic paste icon. download link: http://grosberg.michael.googlepages.com/home

Inkscape 0.46 Frost (and Frost Exceptions)

[Also posted to http://www.inkscape.org] We've made huge progress towards the Chill goals, and are now ready to move into the Frost phase. Development is winding down, although we are granting a few frost exceptions to allow continued work for another week or so in specific areas (see below). 'make distcheck' issues have been sufficiently resolved (thanks Ted and Aaron!) Bug report triaging has gone smashingly well. The About Screen contest has kicked off. We still need to put some attention into the release notes, tutorials, and other docs, but I doubt there's any issues preventing us from moving ahead. In the Frost phase, our objectives are as follows: * Complete frost exception development work. * Focus should be on bug fixes, packaging, documentation, and translation work, all of which may be committed to SVN normally. * Gain some candidate submissions for the About Screen contest. * Release Notes should be >90% filled in. * Bug Hunt (details TBD) * Post inkscape-0.46-alpha.tar.gz The length of time we stay in Frost mode is driven by how long the Bug Hunt takes, but is expected to take on the order of a few weeks. The Frost Exceptions for remaining features are as follows: 1. Angled guidelines, by J.B.C.Engelen (ETA Dec 23rd): Underlying code is complete, and guidelines are rendering, but it needs a UI to allow manipulating them. 2. Python module packaging (lxml, numpy) for OSX, by jiho (ETA ___): Needs wider testing. Needs someone to build PPC packages. 3. Compilation of lib2geom on OS X 10.3 (Panther), by John Faith (ETA ___): An error is preventing builds for Panther versions of Inkscape. If this can't be resolved before release, the alternative is to drop support for this OS version. 4. Font Spec Implementation, by Gail Carmichael (ETA Dec 27). Refactor patch to include some code review changes by Bulia. Also, the patch needs wider testing. 5. Win32 Uninstaller improvement, by Adib (ETA Jan 3). Fix current installer to not bug user for each changed file. 6. PDF, PS export improvements, by Adib (ETA Jan 3). Implement blur as bitmap, and display a dialog with options for text-to-path, blur-as-bitmap, alpha-as-bitmap. 7. Clone Tiling dialog, by Tavmjong Bah (ETA Dec 23rd): Add a few options to Shift, Scaling, and Rotation tabs. Also some small changes for default values for turbulence and composite filters. Feature changes in SVN for things not on this list should be done on a branch. Any feature work not in this list committed to SVN during the Frost period may be reverted by any developer. Bug fixes, translation work, documentation updates, and packaging development may continue to be committed as normal, no permission needed yet.

Truetype Collection fonts

Just wondering, Does Inkscape see Truetype Collection (.ttc) fonts under Linux (fontconfig)? I was pointed to one here: http://distro.ibiblio.org/pub/linux/distributions/gentoo/distfiles/mikachan… I installed it (into ~/.fonts) and it's name does not come up in the list in the font chooser. >From what I can tell, Gimp does not see it either. I might not be seeing it in the list, but it's named 'mikachan' and I don't find that. I am trying to see if it's worth building support for them into Fonty Python. \d

Template question

Hello, There seems to be a template problem in 2geom which is preventing OS X 10.3 (gcc 3.3) from compiling. Does anyone with template experience or 2geom knowledge have any ideas on how this might be simplified to make older compilers happy? Thanks! , John
