Already told abouton IRC but I'm working on Inkscape 2 pages for LGM brochure that will be distributed with the canadian well-known Grafika magazin (4000 ex there). In order to Illustrate, we'd need the best design have ever been made with Inkscape, with reproduction permission for free (please). You can send me files or links as soon as you can. pygmee

Needing to make a layer or graphics non printable

Hi, I am needing the ability to make a layer non printable. Can some one point me to the right area in the code to possibly activate this feature? I did some searching and found the attribute sodipodi:nonprintable here http://inkscape.modevia.com/doxygen/html/attributes_8cpp-source.php on line 00037 but it does not seem to work on a layer or graphic when I use that attribute in the xml editor. How can I activate this attribute?

Inkscape on OLPC?

Heya, one of my top priority projects at CC now is OLPC. I talked with the pres. of software and content, Walter Bender today and I intro'd myself and mentioned Inkscape, and he immediately said, "Oh cool, I use Inkscape all the time. Want to port it to Sugar?" "Sugar is the core of the OLPC Human Interface. Its goal is to turn the Laptop into a fun, easy to use, social experience that promotes sharing and learning." http://wiki.laptop.org/go/Sugar Has anyone tried to build Inkscape with Sugar? Is anyone interested in doing this? It is a cool thing to have happen, as they are needing a drawing program, and this could help us springboard into the process of refactoring and lib'ification more, as the device has memory/space limits and a targeted demographic, kids. If so, I can possibly get a development system for use/testing, although I believe there is a livecd of current builds (based on fedora core 6) and a test environment that can be run locally... Build System

How many of us understand how autoconf and friends work? How many are able to effectively edit and maintain the build process? I spent a few days during the 0.45 dev cycle working to add soft linking for libssl. Most of my time was spent in total confusion. And when I asked around no one among us was able to give much help. I find this a little scary. And I wonder if there isn't a different build system out there that more of us could become proficient in. For lib2geom Verbalshadow decided to give CMake a try. I'm not sure what led to this decision. I think he looked at Scons and a few others first. Maybe because a huge project like KDE is using it. I found out recently that our sister project Scribus is also switching to CMake. I'll let him give you the details. I'd like to use this thread to enumerate our needs for a build system. And I'd like to request some volunteers to help me evaluate any alternatives we find. Becouse I succeed to compile this packages under windows correctly while the packakes at the address http://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php? group_id=93438&package_id=99112 not compiling under windows. As to the seperate Makefiles in every subdirectory they would be a cmakelist.txt but they would all be included into the main cmakelist.txt in the src directory. this can be avoid by setting all the sub-projects in the same cmakelist.txt file but doing this IMO would make the build files a more of a hassle to work with. Hi all, Searching for 'inkscape' on news.google.com shows a couple news items: http://www.prweb.com/releases/2007/2/prweb502902.htm http://svg.org/story/2007/2/5/182623/3069 Also, we've made the feature freeze date for Ubuntu (Feb 8), and so Inkscape 0.45 will be in the new release of Ubuntu, Feisty Fawn. On SourceForge, we've reached the #2 most active project slot. Inkscape 0.45 has already been downloaded over 25,000 times, not counting the .exe package (traditionally the most popular). We're getting a bit of an upsurge in bug reports, so if you have some spare minutes over the next few days, make a habit to peek at the newest bugs in the bug tracker (sort by Open Date with state==Open).
