I will probably start work on the dialog box issues this afternoon. In particular, the biggest problem is bug [1318726], which I just submitted. The non-native dialogs are a nusiance in the first place; it would be much better to replace them with the standard dialogs in comctl32.dll anyhow, as per bug [1118565]. Compilation fails due to markup error

Hi, I'm trying to compile from cvs and I get the following error during "make": -------------------------------------------- es.po: parsing error for `>\n\n <submenu name=\"_File\">\n <submenu name=\"_New\">\n <verb verb-id=\"FileNew\" />\n <template-list/>\n </submenu>\n [snip] the entire xml from /src/menus-skeleton.h:7 [/snip] -------------------------------------------- and this at the end: WARNING: Bad markup found in translations. Please consider fixing the above problems. win98 to be dropped?

Looks like the win98 crash will not be fixed. I even submitted a bug to Gnome but it got no response so far: http://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=316878 Since no one agreed to roll back windows libs to the previous working version, we have to officially drop support for this platform. This saddens me immensely, it's a defeat which will likely affect my feelings towards the project. I have win98 on an older box that my wife and kids use, and now suddenly it has no latest Inkscape anymore. (Not that it worked there perfectly before, but at least it worked and was used quite often.) Here's my proposed addition to the Known Issues in the release notes - Peter and/or Jon, please review and commit (unless you have any other ideas, of course): Due to a bug in GTK 2.8, this version of Inkscape will not work on Windows 95/98/ME. Please don't send us crash reports from those platforms. dingy snowcaps

I've noticed that the snowcap on the Inkscape Windows icon for 0.42.x is a dingy grey instead of white. Why is this, is it still the case in CVS, and if so can someone please fix it? -mental

Hello, Compiling Inkscape CVS under a freshly upgraded SuSE Linux 10.0 yields two errors: - The first one occurs in the top directory: "Makefile:977: *** missing separator. Stop.". It is easily solved by adding a tab space at the beginning of line 977; - The second one is in /po: "Makefile:409: *** target pattern contains no `%' Stop." but I can't solve this one. However, Inkscape Installs fine and seems to be running fine without the po files. So, there seems to be some errors generated by the autotools. Or is this GCC 4 related? GCC 4.0.2 automake 1.9.6 (I commented out the test for version 1.9 in autogen.sh) autoconf 2.59 -- Jean-François Lemaire

Hi, When I was browsing the Project Status page on inkscape.org, I noticed the call for Windows developers. I don't have much free time, but I'm willing to contribute a bugfix here and there to my favorite piece of software. I've checked out the CVS, but am still setting things up to compile.
