Hi, I have updated the to-do list based on the feedback from Alexandre and Joshua (see below). A couple of comments: based on Joshua's reply about first updating existing chapters before writing any new chapters I have labeled any content that would require a new chapter so these can be left until existing chapters have been updated. I have left the translation of the guides grids and snapping chapter in with the existing chapters as I feel that it is a necessary chapter to add. If everyone thinks the list looks good then we can ask Adam if he will create a to-do list for us on the manual page to help keep track of what still needs to be done. I have already made notes where I have noticed that people have already started making changes. Hi, After my last talk with Joshua about updating the manual for the .47 release, I came across the pending release notes for .47. Using these I made a list of updates or modifications that should be made to existing or new chapters so the manual will line up with version .47. So I would like a review and some recommendations made and then may be we could get the list made into a to-do list on the FM inkscape page. The list that I made was created from the material in the release notes for .47 not from comparing .46 to .47 and I have noticed that some of the features mentioned in the release notes are not present in my devel version. whether these are still to be added or dropped I don't know. I have pasted the list below. Object Properties now include Title/Description/Interactivity attributes. - where to add? Note around exporting of blured objects – which should now include all of the blur and not accidentally cut it off. (under working with files or filters??)

Hi Joshua, Sorry I haven't been in contact for the last couple of weeks, we've had a lot of trouble getting the phone connected (and hence the internet) in our new house so I have been out of touch. I am now back up and running. Have you had any more thoughts on developing a plan or to-do list for the manual. A couple of things I was thinking of were: 1) Divide the the work into a - what just needs to be proofed b - what chapters need finishing c - what new chapters/sections need to be created as a result of new developments in 0.47 2) Review all Inkscape window images to ensure the are from 0.47 3) Once Chapters are complete reviewing them for consistency of a - language b - text style c - image style consistency I'm not really sure what else needs to be done. I would LIKE to have chapters that go into how to create this or design than, how to put together a group of tools and features when making a creation, a bit like tutorials I guess. However I think the basics need to be completed first before doing the next step and I don't have time right now to start creating such chapters. Let me know what you think as I've not had a deep involvement before I'm not sure of the best approach. Cheers, John

John, I understand about moving. I've just moved twice in six months!! This one's a bit more permanent, since we own it :) Running the dev version is really not too difficult (though a bit more so under Windows, but I thought you were on Ubuntu?) I could help you set it up - it's pretty simple. And it's fun to watch the progression. (I'm absolutely not a programmer either :) But if you want to help document 0.47 without it, you certainly can, just like you've been doing. Inkscape Interface

I've just updated the Interface overview image in the Interface Chapter in the FM Inkscape Manual to reflect the interface for version 0.47. I've used a similar style to that used in the latest incarnation of the FM firefox manual as I thought that style looked really good and descriptive. Any comments/feedback? Cheers, John

Working with Files Chapter

Hi, I think I've finally sorted out the working with files chapter, as discussed with Joshua I only included the most commonly used file types and moved all the rest to the Glossary. Feel free to check it out and tweak it where necessary. I also wanted to discuss the use of diagrams in the manual, I had mentioned this some time ago but haven't put much attention to it till recently when I was looking at the recently upgraded FM Firefox manual. I really Like the style and layout they use in the Interface Highlights/Overview chapter to give an overview of the firefox window and think that that would be a good style to use for the Inkscape manual. I appreciate any Ideas or Suggestion before I go and change all the graphics in the manual. Cheers, John
