Hi Friends, I'm brynn and I've contacted most of you before, as much as 5 or 6 years ago, when I was first creating a centralized listing of Inkscape tutorials (on Inkscape Community https://forum.inkscapecommunity.com/index.php). Unfortunately, for personal reasons, I'm going to have to close Inkscape Community at the end of this month. However, with help from the Inkscape website team, I've set up a somewhat similar system on the Inkscape website, where we want to make a new collection of tutorials. So I want to invite all of you Inkscape tutorial authors to join us, and make a new collection of tutorials on the Inkscape website. some changes on website - vectors team

Hi Friends, Back about 5 years ago, when Martin started to develop what we've come to know as the modern day Inkscape website, I transferred what I thought was worthy info from the old wiki, and that became the current Around the Internet page (https://inkscape.org/community/inkscape-around-internet/). It was worthy at that time, because the gallery had not been launched quite yet. Because it's 100% 3rd party links, in a bargain to allow the page onto the website, (which does not want 3rd party links) I volunteered to keep it up to date. At the time, we regularly had users contacting us to list their sites there. And of course links would go dead from time to time too. I've just started the process to update it again, and I realize that we have not had a single request in the last couple of years, from someone to list their site there. And I see sites that once has a couple dozen images, which now have just a couple. And a few of those sites are about to be completely deleted (dead links). I'm thinking that the usefulness of this page - which was to show users what Inkscape can do - has outlived it's purpose. Now we have the gallery, where users can not just upload their images, but link to their own images, and as well do the same in their profile. So I want to propose deleting that page (or moving it into some kind of hidden historical area, if outright deleting it doesn't seem right). And at the same time, I want renew the discussion about starting a new website feature, where users can either themselves make a little article explaining and showing about their project where they've used Inkscape (or else a website editor could interview them, and write it up for them). I think it would only take one article to get the ball rolling, and start to attract other users to participate. Since I'm resigning as a moderator, I'll have enough time to be a contact person for such a new feature. Under the heading of "changes on the website", the new Tutorials page is almost ready. What can we improve in our wiki?

Hi All, I was just taking a look at Blender's Wiki ( https://wiki.blender.org/wiki/Main_Page) and I was happy to identify they are using a similar wiki engine as we are. But I also noticed that they have a more modern (beautiful?) visual than we do. Is this something we are able to implement in our wiki as well? Besides this... are we going to revamp our wiki and centralize documentation material in it? Or are we going to readthedocs? Or are we going to centralize our efforts in the Gitlab wiki feature? Please let me know. I am really excited to read the article on how to write themes and icon sets for inkscape 1.x once it is ready. Thanks, Victor

Minimum and recommended requirements?

Hi All, Do we know where one can find the minimum, and recommended requirements to run Inkscape in their computers? I was just wondering if this could be found anywhere. So I went to google and tried: "inkscape minimum requirements" Oddly enough the first link was pointing to Adobe Illustrator... And when I did the same search in our own wiki (wiki.inkscape.org) the results I got were: https://wiki.inkscape.org/wiki/index.php?search=requirements&title=Special%… Which pointed to the Effects, Extensions... but not to the actual requirements (Software and hardware) needed to run Inkscape on one's local machine. If this really does not exist anywhere could we add this in the website or in the wiki somewhere? What are the team's thoughts on this? Thanks, Victor

new Tutorials page for website

Hi Friends, I've made a proposed new page which introduces something new for the website, which is new official tutorials. The page pretty much explains everything. For those who have website editing access, you can see the proposed new page here: https://inkscape.org/tutorials-proposed/?edit&language=en For those who don't have editing access, the page gives guidelines for the tutorials that would be acceptable, and invites contributors. I would also contact all the tutorial authors which I've found while creating Inkscape Community's big listings of tutorials (https://forum.inkscapecommunity.com/index.php). And there would either be a new channel in the chatroom for discussing these tutorials...or maybe we would just use the Documentation channel. (I'm not sure.) Generally my idea is that authors would submit tutorials, which I, or anyone else who might be interested, would review, to make sure they meet the guidelines. The tutorials must carry the CC-BY-SA or equivalent license, which would allow the community to edit them, if they ever needed editing in the future. Exactly how they get on the website is not set in stone yet. Currently my thought is that I would type them in myself. If the feature were to become too popular, we might have to go to the proverbial "plan b". Or possibly we could use the gallery, except it would require authors to create PDF files. If we used the gallery, we would not need the license. On the other hand, we would not be able to update the tutorials as needed. Anyway, questions and comments are welcome. Thanks, brynn

The Winner of the About Screen Contest for Inkscape 1.0 is ... It will grace the 'About Inkscape' dialog of our very special release Inkscape 1.0. The winner was determined via Instant Runoff Vote in the openSTV software. Read the docs Manual administrative backup

Hi everyone, can you help by volunteering as an administrative backup for the beginners' guide at https://inkscape-manuals.readthedocs.io ? (as there's no official project email address, I'm not sure how else to make sure that someone else has access there, too) What I'd need from you is your readthedocs.org user name. Currently, that position comes without any additional work, as I'm able to take care of what needs to be done. It is only a backup thing, as there's currently a bus factor of 1. no information about installing a Windows version without admin rights for me as a user ?

Hello, Good evening, (I found the address of the list on the page Community - https://inkscape.org/community/mailing-lists/ ) First, I can not find a page link labelled as Contact on the Inkscape website. And at the end of the FAQ page, there is no section named Contact.
