opening new forum this week

Hi Friends, The new forum is opening this week! I'm planning to start the transition from Inkscape Community to the new forum, on July 31 (in my part of the world). Because by the time it's August 1st for me, it's either already, or almost August 2nd for half the world. Martin, can you please plan to release the posting block on the new forum, on July 31 ? Would you please let me know when it's done? And then I'll block all new posting on Inkscape Community. I hope to heck I've thought of everything. But I'm sure there will be some surprises. Any and all comments or concerns are still totally welcome. All best, brynn

"moderation" question

Hi Friends, Reference this newly uploaded image, and specifically the "inkscapeofficial" tag. https://media.inkscape.org/media/resources/file/lego_toy_story.png Is the project ok with someone claiming that their work is an "official inkscape" drawing? I put "moderation" in quotes, because moderators can't curate the tags anyway. But I still thought I should ask whether the project finds this acceptable or not. Even considering that their intention might be to credit Inkscape, that could be done with "inkscape" as a tag, without the "official" which has a whole other connotation. And a related question. Are there any words that are disallowed for use as tags? All best, brynn

gallery moderation issue

Hi Friends, When we first started moderating the gallery, I found an issue with images which "could have been" made with Inkscape, but I was suspicious they weren't. Then Martin suggested using reverse image search to try to identify these images. If we find the image on other websites, it gives us clues about whether it was made with Inkscape. And that has been working great, until recently. Now, it seems like the people who like to post random, meaningless images around the internet, have caught on, and have figured out that if they put up an image which is not found in a reverse image search, we leave it there. It's often impossible for us to prove they didn't make it with Inkscape. I've left several images in the gallery lately, which I suspect weren't made with Inkscape. But there's just no way to prove it. For example, there are 2 or 3 other images like this cow one. But they aren't found in a reverse image search. https://inkscape.org/~missym/%E2%98%85bee+1 Is there some way to "beat" a reverse image search? (The search doesn't find that specific image, although Etsy seems to have a lot of generalized 'cow with bandana' images.) Unless we want to just live with the fact of having images not made with Inkscape in the gallery, we (meaning mostly me, at least for now) might have to make some more subjective determinations about images. And that means getting it wrong sometimes, and sometimes hearing from members about removed images. Does anyone have any comments or suggestions? Can someone remind me how to do a reverse image search on google? I've been using TinEye exclusively, but maybe using 2 different search engines would help? I know how to search images using a keyword, but not how to search using an actual image (URL). Thanks for any comments, suggestions :-) brynn

inbox coming back to website?

Hi Friends, Is the Inbox ever coming back to the website, for personal messages? I know it was back for a while, but then it was gone again. I'm just wondering if I should start to save the messages which I need to send out from time to time, as a moderator. Without the inbox, I wouldn't be able to access them, if it became necessary. can't curate the description in gallery

Hi Friends, When the Curate feature for the gallery first came out, I could edit the description (along with almost everything about an image). Now it seems I can't. But that's where the spam is! That's where the spam always will be. The images seem entirely appropriate, and I would not remove them. But if I can't delete the spam from the description, the only other option is to remove the images (3 of them today). Thoughts? Bug report?
