Vote2: Update Fiscal Sponsorship Agreement (FSA) with SFC
by Martin Owens
= Background =
The first goal of the membership project is to change our Fiscal
Sponsorship Agreement so that it points at a file that's easier to
change than the existing AUTHORS file. The first vote to change to
using a fixed website url was rejected by vote of the leadership
comittee with no overall conesnsus, so this follow up vote is to
attempt a change without the specific url.
There are two main options that came from the previous vote, one is to
publish the list on the website and the second is to not specify any
particular place.
= Current FSA Language =
https://inkscape.org/en/gallery/item/9584/2015-09-12-Inkscape-FSA-2015-05...
```
Committee members (“Members”) shall be elected by the contributors to
the Inkscape community, which is comprised solely of individuals listed
in the Project’s AUTHORS file (“Inkscape Community”).
```
= Proposed New Language =
```
Committee members (“Members”) shall be elected by the contributors to
the Inkscape community. The project shall keep a list of the
contributors permitted to participate in that election process [two
options available, see below].
```
= Options =
a. Change the FSA to use "... publicly available on its website"
b. Change the FSA to say "... posted publicly"
c. Do not change the FSA at this time.
= Next Steps =
On the advice of Karen, after this vote we will send the result and the
new language to the SFC and they will help us with the next parts of
the process to update the agreement.
Thanks everyone!

Vote: Update Fiscal Sponsorship Agreement (FSA) with SFC
by Martin Owens
Dear All,
# Background
This vote is a result of the leadership committee meeting on August
12th. The full video and chat recording of the meeting can be found at
https://digimedia1.r2.enst.fr/b/ink-exm-ate for full context. Big
thanks to Karen from the SFC for attending the meeting and giving us
such good advice.
The first goal of the membership project is to change our Fiscal
Sponsorship Agreement so that it points at a file that's easier to
change than the existing AUTHORS file. This is best done by using a
fixed url which can then be populated by any list of people which we
decide should count as members.
To start this process, I have copied the existing AUTHORS file to the
url https://inkscape.org/*membership/list.txt to keep this vote
focused, any discussion of new mechanisms, or adding non-developers
should be kept out of this email chain. But please come to the chat
room and lets talk about it more.
# Current FSA Language
https://inkscape.org/en/gallery/item/9584/2015-09-12-Inkscape-FSA-2015-05...
```
Committee members (“Members”) shall be elected by the contributors to
the Inkscape community, which is comprised solely of individuals listed
in the Project’s AUTHORS file (“Inkscape Community”).
```
# Proposed New Language
```
Committee members (“Members”) shall be elected by the contributors to
the Inkscape community, which is comprised solely of individuals listed
in the Project’s membership list located at
https://inkscape.org/*membership/list.txt (“Inkscape Community”).
```
# Options
* [ ] Change the FSA to use the new membership list
* [ ] Do not change the FSA to point to the new list
* [ ] Do something else (different language etc)
# Next Steps
On the advice of Karen, after this vote we will send the result and the
new language to the SFC and they will help us with the next parts of
the process to update the agreement.
Thanks everyone!

Meeting Today
by doctormo@gmail.com
Dear all,
Our Leadership Committee meeting is today¹ and it would be great to
have you attend.
Each meeting will be recorded so people who can not come will be able
to watch the discussion later.
This meeting's focus is going to be on making sure we can include more
people in the definition of "The Inkscape Community" for the purpose of
voting.
I've put together this agenda:
1. Moving the canonical membership list to the website
2. Requesting from the SFC a change in agreement to define this new
list as the list of voting members.
3. The remaining time we can talk about the mechanisms by which people
get added to the list (see continuation of previous discussions).
I expect the second item will produce a vote which will be sent to the
mailing list. But we'll see how the discussion goes.
Thanks everyone!

PLC Meeting this Thursday
by Martin Owens
Dear all,
A remember that this Thursday we have a big blue button meeting. This
month I'd like to have us decide on the membership problem. The
question is: "How should we ask the SFC to change our agreement, to
include all inkscape contributors" the goal for the meeting will be to
put together the vote email which hopefully will be sent at the end of
the meeting.
Times and links: https://inkscape.org/cals/event/30/
Please do come if you'd like to be involved in the discussion of
inkscape membership.

Status Meeting Today
by Ted Gould
Hello Folks,
Sorry, I just realized there's supposed to be a meeting today. I took a hastely planned family trip out of town before school starts (next Wed) and didn't notice it on the calendar.
I'm happy if someone else runs the meeting, or I'm also happy to run it next week. I won't be able to make it.
Sorry again for not emailing folks about this earlier.
