Subject: Conservancy-wide discussion re: project merch
Hi, all:
Several member projects have expressed interest in designing and
selling "official" project merchandise (t-shirts, stickers, mugs,
etc.). So, we've started a mailing list that will be used for
discussions relating to merch, e.g., asking questions, vendor
recommendations, strategy comparisons, design feedback.
If you or someone from your Project Leadership Committee would like to
join the discussion, please subscribe here:

lgm pledgie
by Alexandre Prokoudine
Hello, board!
I recently re-enabled the LGM pledgie banner on inkscape.org. The
campaign is on again, and we did it each year before, so I don't
really expect any controversion, but just so you know.

A majority of board has voted in favor of this 10%.
See inkscape-board@ list archives for details on the voting.

new fundraising opportunity: using Amazon Affiliate links
by Bryce Harrington
Forwarding from SFC in case anyone thinks this looks interesting.
(I'm guessing it wouldn't generate enough revenue for us to be worth the
trouble, but I certainly could be wrong.)

Subject: new fundraising opportunity: using Amazon Affiliate links
Hi, all:
Conservancy has created an Amazon Associates account we can use to
create Amazon Affiliate links for Projects to use. Projects can place
affiliate links on their websites to point to
project-related/mission-related books available for purchase on
Amazon. When visitors use those links to visit Amazon.com and make
purchases, Amazon sends a royalty back, thereby creating another
fundraising revenue stream for the Projects.
For more information about the Amazon Associates program, visit
http://affiliate-program.amazon.com.
If your project is interested in creating an affiliate link for one or
more books, please send the following information to
<amazon@...41...>:
* URL for each book for sale on Amazon.com
* URL(s) for the project web page(s) that will feature the affiliate link(s)
We'll then send you the Amazon-generated HTML needed to create the link.
RULES:
* The books have to be project- or mission-related. In other words,
you can't link to /The Hunger Games/ just to generate traffic and
raise money.
* Linking to non-book items is more complicated. If you want to link
to a non-book item that you feel is mission-related, let Conservancy
know; we'll then determine whether we can create a link that complies
with Amazon's terms and conditions and IRS guidelines.
* Lastly (IMPORTANT): _Project pages cannot host affiliate links
created with third-party or personal Amazon accounts_. The IRS
forbids the use of Project resources for personal fundraising. So, if
there are any legacy affiliate links of this nature anywhere on your
Project's websites (or wikis, or fora, for that matter), please remove
them. The only affiliate links on Project websites should be ones
created by Conservancy's affiliate account.
If you have any questions about the process, please direct them to
<amazon@...41...>, and Bradley or I will get back to you.
Thanks!

It's probably fine, but forwarding to the board for discussion.

There is a GPL-2 COPYING file in the website SVN tree, inkscape_web.

Proposal: travel subsidy for SCALE 11x
by Jon Cruz
Hi Guys,
I was wondering if would want to offer a travel subsidy to help get a few people to our booth at SCALE 11x? We have a booth allocation, and 10 conference passes that go with it. At the moment I have just two bodies committed (myself, and a talented assistant in my now college student daughter), so more can be helpful. I live near enough so I just drive on in.
Rooms at the hotel are listed for $112 a night, and a quick spot-check on flights from the East Coast are in the $300-$400 range. Those might be a good benchmark for the upper range on a normal expectation of how far SCALE attendees might come. Sometimes even partial assistance can help get people there who otherwise might be on the fence.
As a follow-up item, might we want to try coordinating for any other shows during the year? I know we'd mentioned a few somewhere just about a year ago, so this seems like a good time to consider/plan.
