Hello board, As discussed last board meeting, I'd like to reopen discussion regarding sponsorship levels. The current levels were decided in Sept 2015: https://sourceforge.net/p/inkscape/mailman/message/34463940/ I've pasted the full text below for ease of commenting. For reference we've received the following donations at the >= $1000 level: Inkscape Conservancy 15-Feb-12 Elementary LL $ 1,000.00 05-Aug-17 F. Gyger € 1,786.50 € 198.50 16-Dec-08 Worksoft $ 1,806.43 $ 193.57 Our donations typically range from $1 to $500. Very roughly, we seem to get multiple donations at the $1, $5, $10 daily, $20 and $50 weekly, $100-300 every few weeks, and $500 a few times a year. Some of the accumulated suggestions I've seen, which should be considered in this update: * More benefits at the higher levels * A tangible reward in reach of individual donors (i.e. ~$500) * Better specificity with the website acknowledgement rewards How do you think we can expand our sponsorship levels? I'll incorporate suggestions and we'll re-vote in a few weeks. We'll then need the levels wordsmithed into a nice looking web page to detail the sponsorship levels. Bryce ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Inkscape Funding Levels For Sponsors ------------------------------------ 1. Principles ============= Inkscape wishes to acknowledge and encourage donations from sponsors. This proposal establishes a set of funding levels with given rewards. 2. Levels ========= The following levels are established (in US$): Diamond Scribe: $20,000 Platinum Pen: $10,000 Golden Brush: $5,000 Silver Quill $2,000 Bronze Stylus: $1,000 3. Rewards ========== 1. Acknowledgment with logo on "Our Sponsor Page" (one year) 2. Acknowledgment with logo on our home page (one year) for Silver and above levels. Logos must be 160x80px and non-animated. SVG's are encouraged. Logos must be non-political and non-offensive with the Inkscape board and SFC being the final arbitrators of suitability. 4. Non-monetary Donations ========================== Non-monetary donations are also accepted and may, with board approval, qualify for one of the above rewards. A general rule is that $5 worth of services is equal to a $1 cash donation. Significant non-monetary donations not qualifying for a reward will be recognized in a general "Thank You" section on the "Our Sponsors" page (as is the current case). 4. Retroactivity ================ With their agreement, previous donors of $1000 or more will qualify for the above rewards with a starting date of the adoption of this resolution.

Inkscape Branding page on website

Dear Board members, Jabier asked the website team in a bug report [1] if we could make a 'Branding' page for the website, where users, sponsors, developers etc. can be guided to find everything they need for participating in contests or for creating other Inkscape-branded materials. I've based the contents of the page on the existing Wiki page [2]. The images and fonts I've uploaded are now attached to Bryce's account, so a board member/developer can edit them. They are living in a gallery that belongs to the developers team [3] (and is linked to Bryce's account, too), just like they do in the Inkscape code base. In theory, it should be possible for any developer who is registered as one on the website now to upload to that gallery (in practice, I think that feature needs some fixing... Bryce will be able to upload to the gallery atm). The page itself is this one: https://inkscape.org/en/about/branding/ It's not yet available in the menu, but published, so you can take a look easily. Please let me know if there are any changes required to the contents. Your vote is needed on the planned Inkscape Hackfest in Portland, Oregon. Proposals: 1. Sponsor a hackfest in Portland, Oregon. (Refer to attached proposal document for details). [ ] a. Cruz Ted Gould Krzysztof Kosiński Martin Owens Resolved: Background: Past hackfests have provided excellent opportunities for Inkscape developers to meet in person, discuss the project and coordinate work on bug-fixing, feature planning, and other efforts. In the past we've also sought to align the location and time of the event with conferences or groups in the area to permit external collaborations as well. Our experience so far seems to show that we're getting far more tangible benefit out of the internal interactions than the external ones. Thus, this event will focus more sharply on the hackfest itself, giving us much greater flexibility for time and location. In the past events, we flexibly let each attendee arrange their own accommodation within an allowed stipend, so as to enable them to find options that best minimize costs. However, our experience has shown this to be unpredictable with sometimes sub-par stays and various levels of hassles making the arrangements and securing reimbursement. Bryce Harrington has volunteered as event coordinator for the hackfest event. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Thanks everyone for the feedback on the proposal, I've decided to press on with getting the vote settled for the budgeted amounts so we can get a reservation in place before someone else books our dates. There seems to not be a consensus on the preferred dates. I'm hoping the vote will help clear that up, or at least give us a majority decision we can use to start getting things nailed down. A potential hitch for the dates is that Terri noticed the schedule on the rental company's website differs substantially from what they show on AirBnB. She's attempting to contact them for clarification (and to investigate if there's any chance we could get both units this year). Based on this we may need to adjust our dates. Hi guys, Attached is the proposal for a hackfest in Portland. Please review and let me know of any changes that should be made, or questions that need answered. In a couple days (depending on feedback) I'll post for a vote, and then make the appropriate reservation. As mentioned at the meeting, if we want a hackfest in Oct/Nov there is availability for one unit or the other. It doesn't look like we could get both units until 2017, although if the proposal looks otherwise ok and if we definitely do want both units, we will contact the owners to see if there's any potential flexibility. Inkscape Board Meeting Sep 2nd

Hi Inkscapers, For September's board meeting, I'd like to plan on getting together this Friday, September 2nd, at the usual time, noon Pacific, in #inkscape-devel. http://wiki.inkscape.org/wiki/index.php/Board_Meetings Last meeting we discussed hackfest locations. My wife's been helping me scope out some awesome places in the area, and we have a good option to present. We'd also talked about sending a few folks to a GNOME event this fall; this meeting will be the last opportunity to get that underway if we want to do it. Another important agenda item is to follow up on the Inkscape Forum transition, and discuss follow up tasks. I've also started working on setting up an Inkscape account on Spreadshirt and put some Q's in to SFC regarding bank info and taxes, but am hoping that will be ready for usage soonish. So I'd like to chat with Mc and anyone else that would like to participate in getting that off the ground. Bryce
