Hello everyone, I made some edits to the Code of Conduct and I'm fairly satisfied with how it looks right now. However, we need some more information on how we would handle violations; in particular, we should have a public e-mail address of something similar that can be used to report problems. Do we have anything we can put there? Who should be contacted in case of problems on IRC, website, mailing list, etc.? Best regards, Krzysztof

Project management interface.

Hi, After spending some time working with the Project editing interface I have a bucket full of comments: 0. I can imagine the amount of work that went into creating the interface. I want to first say I appreciate all the effort! 1. The interface is very slow. It makes it difficult to figure out how the site works. Clicking on one of the project name takes so long to bring up that project's information that one wonders if that was the correct way to do it. If the interface cannot be sped up then at least some instructions should be added to the web page. (e.g. "Click on project name to edit that project's parameters.") 2. SVG's are not allowed for the Banner and Logo!! I've heard that there is some great Libre Graphics program that can produce SVGs that scale better than PNGs on the web... 3. The Logo is required to be 150x150 px but it is displayed at a different resolution leading to blurring. (See #2 for solution.) 4. Can't change "Proposer". The initial projects should have "Inkscape" as the proposer. 5. Can't format the "Project Updates". We should be able to use at least a limited set of HTML tags. 6. "Project Update" is not a good title for the initial project description. We should have "Project Description" (or something similar) followed by a "Project Update" section. 7. What does "Importance" mean. It is not clear what the input should be (text or number), what the numbers mean (low number more important than high number?), and what is the range of acceptable numbers. A drop -down menu might be better here. 8. How are the project fund raising goals set? I didn't see that in the interface. 9. The project summaries on "https://inkscape.org/en/project/" should be customizable and not just first few lines of the "Project Update". 10. It's time to get rid of the tripling of projects on the Projects page. Tav

GList removal and other projects.

Hi, I've completed reviewing the text for the GList/GSList removal project: https://inkscape.org/en/project/remove-all-use-of-glist-and-gslist/ While I was reviewing the project I added logos and banners for the other projects. I also added a project for SVG spec work. What is the next step in getting these projects live? Tav

Proposal for board meeting

Hi guys, Now that our board is re-manned, I'm thinking it'd make sense to call a meeting on IRC. I don't have anything major to discuss myself, but I'll bet the rest of you have some good ideas to float. How does some time first week of October sound? Thursday Oct 1st? Or would the weekend be better? Please also make sure your profile at inkscape.org is fully filled in (Jon and Ted, you also need to put something in there.) I've added both of you to the inkscape.board team in Launchpad. This gives you read and write access to our board-docs repository, which is where we handle proposals for votes. Requests and suggestions for votes can come from anyone (not just board members), but the first step is to draft a Proposal. There is a file proposals/TEMPLATE with the recommended sections to include; basically we like to have a clear and precise statement of what's to be voted on, along with a background section that explains the concept and why it's important. If there are special tasks that will need to be done, call those out and identify the assignees or how assignees will be determined. Often it's a good idea to float an idea on the mailing list to gather feedback, especially for things that might be controversial or involve a lot of money. Once it's ready to go, notify the Chair (me) to review and post the proposal for the board. (I can also handle writing up the proposal, although I _really_ appreciate it when others handle the drafting.) The Chair is responsible for collecting the votes and notifying the Conservancy. Where money is involved, Conservancy typically handles the reimbursement and often the purchasing as well. Completed proposals are then moved to the resolutions directory in the board-docs repository. I think that covers the mechanics of how the board works. One important point I should bring to your attention is the importance of casting your votes. Our new Fiscal Sponsorship Agreement specifies that board members must participate in the voting as a requirement of membership; see the FSA for details on this requirement. If you're going to be unable to vote for an extended period, there's provision given for grace periods - just let us know your timeframe and we'll sort out details. Hackfest 2016

Hi, If we are going to have a hackfest in 2016 we should probably start thinking about it. I quite like the idea of having a hackfest before or after LGM (London April 15-18) in Leeds (two and a half hours north of London via train). We don't necessarily need to be coupled with LGM. The Graphical Web Conference

Hi, The Graphical Web Conference (formerly SVG Open) is taking place Sept 23-26 in Pittsburgh. https://www.graphicalweb.org/2015/ I submitted a talk on SVG 2 (in which I highlight Inkscape) which was accepted. For the past few years the conference has fully paid my travel costs (I've asked Inkscape for backup funding each time but I never had to use it). This year it is clear that the conference will be unable to fund my travel as they are running a rather large deficit. It is probably not worth the $1500 it would take for Inkscape to send me to the conference but it might be worth sending someone who is closer, especially if that person could fill in for me. I was thinking maybe along the line of $500 of support. (We can probably get the conference fee waived.) What do you all think about this? Tav
