Considering stepping down

Hello all, I'm considering stepping down, resigning from Inkscape's board. For the past months, I've lacked the motivation to spend enough time on board matters. It's been a disappointing (in myself) experience. Moreover, recently, although there were fun moments, they are overshadowed by a number of very negative experiences on the maillist/community and I want to be able to stop reading the maillist and just pull the plug for a while. Also, already not having/spending the time to reply to messages I want to reply to is already frustrating. It feels very bad already simply considering unsubscribing from the dev maillist that I've been reading for such a long time. But the bad experiences really stick for a long time (this weekend for example has been ruined), and the simple solution is to just not have them. It is much easier to simply contribute to Inkscape on the side, whenever I want to, and with whom I choose to. Somehow I've lost a lot of the fun when working on Inkscape. Don't know how I can find it back. regards, Johan

Hi Tony, In fact, Inkscape is in process of replacing the website entirely, with an upgraded design. The ETA for that switchover I believe is a couple weeks. For the current site, I'm not sure we still have ssh access to the machine it's hosted on (I gather the person who owns the hardware the site runs on has been inactive.) Anyway, I believe an issue is that no one can edit the current site. Maybe someone who knows more about it can fill us in? Anyway, I believe this is the hold up. If you feel it is extremely urgent, maybe we can look at moving up the switchover date. Otherwise, I'd like to see things proceed as scheduled, to avoid errors from rushing things. Hi, I've exchanged a couple of emails with Martin Owens. He has asked: "Who has access to the current live website and the dns records?" Does anyone know the answer? Inkscape accounts on various sites

Hey all, So, there are some instances where we have accounts on sites like twitter or deviantart where I or someone else may be the only person who has the password. How do we want to go about centralizing, securing, yet sharing this info with those who need it? Also, in the case of Twitter, since Conservancy had to provide the legal information to Twitter for us to get control of that account, a conservancy address is the password recovery mechanism. Personally, I actually like the feel of that. It seems appropriate that they serve in that protective role IMHO. What are people's thoughts on this subject? Cheers, Josh

Hi all, Today I discovered this page: http://inkscape.org/conservancy/ I think it needs updating or should be archived/deleted? Somewhere it should say that we are a member of the conservancy (I couldn't find it in any case) and we should have a link to the conservancy's website too. Thus I would vote to approve. It would make my decision easier if we could see the design first, although I know this gets to be a chicken-and-egg problem (why fund making a design, if they don't know whether or not we'll approve it). However, I would hope to see two things in their design: 1. Nothing offensive. Obviously. 2. High calibre design. Inkscape is a drawing tool, and will be judged based on the design quality of the advertisement. But I don't think it's necessary to condition my vote based on these; I think their effort's success or failure will already be dependent on achieving both goals. So +1 from me.
