Dear PLC, As discussed, we have finished the outreachy project for this summer and are now only one week (10th September) from needing to commit for Winter 2021. We have lined up co-mentors Kavya and Adam Belis who are going to be handling lining up projects. So this cycle is likely to focus on design, docs or a less technical project. Please vote as soon as possible so we can submit by the deadline. VOTE: Farewell Gift for Bryce Harrington

Background Bryce Harrington is a co-founder of Inkscape who recently decided to step down from the board and limit his involvement in Inkscape. He contributed invaluable service to the Inkscape project over the time he was involved. In this vein the project would like to get him a token to say "Thank you" for his contributions. Ryan Gorley has volunteered to find a gift and get it to Bryce. Resolution Authorize a budget to Ryan Gorley to acquire an appropriate gift for Bryce Harrington. a. Authorize a budget of $600 b. Vote2: Update Fiscal Sponsorship Agreement (FSA) with SFC

= Background = The first goal of the membership project is to change our Fiscal Sponsorship Agreement so that it points at a file that's easier to change than the existing AUTHORS file. The first vote to change to using a fixed website url was rejected by vote of the leadership comittee with no overall conesnsus, so this follow up vote is to attempt a change without the specific url. There are two main options that came from the previous vote, one is to publish the list on the website and the second is to not specify any particular place. = Current FSA Language = https://inkscape.org/en/gallery/item/9584/2015-09-12-Inkscape-FSA-2015-05.p… ``` Committee members (“Members”) shall be elected by the contributors to the Inkscape community, which is comprised solely of individuals listed in the Project’s AUTHORS file (“Inkscape Community”). ``` = Proposed New Language = ``` Committee members (“Members”) shall be elected by the contributors to the Inkscape community. The project shall keep a list of the contributors permitted to participate in that election process [two options available, see below]. ``` = Options = a. Change the FSA to use "... publicly available on its website" b. Change the FSA to say "... posted publicly" c. Do not change the FSA at this time. = Next Steps = On the advice of Karen, after this vote we will send the result and the new language to the SFC and they will help us with the next parts of the process to update the agreement. Dear all, Our Leadership Committee meeting is today¹ and it would be great to have you attend. Each meeting will be recorded so people who can not come will be able to watch the discussion later. This meeting's focus is going to be on making sure we can include more people in the definition of "The Inkscape Community" for the purpose of voting. I've put together this agenda: 1. Moving the canonical membership list to the website 2. Requesting from the SFC a change in agreement to define this new list as the list of voting members. 3. The remaining time we can talk about the mechanisms by which people get added to the list (see continuation of previous discussions). PLC Meeting this Thursday

Vote: Rename Inkscape Board to Inkscape Committee

Dear Board/Committee, We had a practice discussion and this is our practice vote. Background on the vote: The Inkscape PLC is a subsidiary of the software freedom conservancy. As such our use of the word "Board" to describe our group can be confusing to English speakers. To help remedy this, I move that we rename ourselves to the "Inkscape Committee" in all our documentation and how we describe ourselves. Pros: * This is the name used in the SFC agreement. "The Inkscape Committee Will Manage the Project. Authority to manage the technical,artistic and philanthropic direction of the Project and the program activities of the Project isdelegated to the Inkscape Committee (“Committee”) as defined in §6" * It helps people understand our relationship with the SFC. * It helps us avoid getting into discussions with third parties that assume we're an independent organisation. Cons: * There's a lot of things to modify. (chat rooms, wiki, website, irc, mailing lists) although not all things need to be modified if they are hard to do. For example the mailing list. * It's not that important. The SFC don't mind and aren't forcing us to. This vote wil be open for one week (7 days) from today at which point the tally will be made and the decision will be posted to this mailing list. If passed, I'll announce to the rest of the project (and especially vectors) and make a start at changing the name. We can do this bit by bit as we see things. Options * [ ] Rename the "Inkscape Board" the "Inkscape Committee" * [ ] No not rename it and keep it as "Inkscape Board" * [ ] Rename it to something else (please specify) Thanks!
