RFC: Budget for 2022

Howdy folks, So I think we should really have a budget, even if we don't follow it 100%, just a good practice and idea. We basically stopped doing it in 2018. My idea is to put something very high level and simple together, nothing exciting mostly just our regular stuff (for instance we can still vote for one-off things here an there, etc.). But I do want us to feel like we have a plan and instead of financial reports just being numbers be related to something. My goal is to have something we can vote on by the end of the calendar year. If you've got ideas, please reply to this thread or ping me on chat sometime. Ted

Inkscape PLC Meeting (moved to Nov 12, 2021)

Howdy folks, I am late getting out this notice and folks in the chat mentioned it'd be easier for everyone if we shifted the normal meeting back a week. So we're planning on having it Nov 12, 2021 and high noon Texas time. I think this gets is out of the confusing week where everyone is on different daylight savings time as well. VOTE: Apple Developer Renewal

Background: ----------- René de Hesselle (RdH) has been preparing our OSX builds for a while, to do that he needs to be able to sign them with an Apple Developer Account. We have reimbursed him last year for this account so that he could continue to sign builds for Inkscape. This is to renew that account so he can continue to sign OSX builds. Proposal: --------- Reimburse RdH for the membership renewal expenses for Apple's developer program. This is estimated to cost 99€. Votes: ------ a. Reimburse RdH for the program b. Developer hardware support

Hi all, I would like to raise the topic of getting hardware into developer's hands. I'm really not sure the best way to do this (or if we should). My motivation is the frustration I'm having with not knowing if I am breaking the our MacOSX code with the refactoring I am doing... and when I do get reports of breakage, not being able to fix it (it's currently broken now!). A little research shows that a 2018 Mac Mini can be had for around $1000. Given our current financial state, that would see like a reasonable investment. I could imagine though, coming up with a policy of what kind of support is given to who could be quite a challenge. Tav

Vote: Contributor T-shirts 2021

Dear Leadership Committee, You attention is required to vote on funding for the 2021 contributor's t-shirt. This vote will allow Ryan Gorley to send out the gift codes which give a person a 100% off (including shipping) and which Ryan will be reimbursed at cost from the project. Background: The process so far * [x] A design was created¹, edited and has broad community approval. * [x] Design was sampled and put onto a unisex and women's sizes. * [x] Invitations were sent out to contributors to confirm their interest and shipping address to better assess costs. * [x] All respondents have been confirmed as contributors by team leads. * [ ] Vote to fund the estimated costs + buffer (you are here) * [ ] Codes sent out and t-shirts sent out directly to contributors from maker. There are some respondents who have not contributed in 2021, but who did in 2020. Because this is the first one of these we've ever done, there was a consensus to put 2020 people into the vote for consideration. The t-shirts work out at just over $20 each, including worldwide shipping. Which I think is a very good value for the project without any hidden cost problems. I've added a small buffer for uncertainty of about 5%. Ballot: a. Reimburse $800 or less for contributors from 2021, plus some 2020 contributors because this is our first time. b. VOTE: FSA Membership List Revision

A majority vote of the current board members is required for the following matter. Background ---------- Previously we voted on adjusting the FSA to change the list of people who can vote for the PLC positions to be a list maintained by the PLC instead of the AUTHORS file. We sent that to the SFC and they recommended some slight changes. They'd like to see the URL there, but with a mechanism to change it without going through the whole FSA change procedure. Proposal --------- Amend the FSA section 6 paragraph 2 from: Committee members (“Members”) shall be elected by the contributors to the Inkscape community, which is comprised solely of individuals listed in the Project’s AUTHORS file (“Inkscape Community”). to: Committee members (“Members”) shall be elected by the contributors to the Inkscape community, which is comprised solely of individuals listed on the following URL on the Project’s website (“Inkscape Community”), or such other URL as provided to Conservancy by the Authorized Representative upon unanimous approval of the Committee: https://inkscape.org/*membership/list.txt Votes ----- a. VOTE: FSA adding membership provision

Background ---------- We've passed a membership policy, but I'd thrown out the idea that some of that should be in the FSA to make it more official. I suggested some text to mirror the policy, there hasn't been any comments. Upon realizing the FSA is harder to change than I thought, I'm suggesting putting it in now so we don't have to do the signing part again. Putting this to a quick vote to see if it can go in this batch of changes. Proposal -------- Add a section to the FSA that reads as follows: Inkscape Community. The Inkscape Community shall be defined as a list of members that is maintained by The Committee and posted as specified in section 6. Adding a Member. Contributors will be added when they have made a sustained contribution to the Inkscape Project and that contribution is verified by three existing members of the Community. Removing a Member. Members can be removed from the list at the member’s request or by a simple majority vote of The Committee. The Committee should only remove members that cannot be contacted, have ceased contributing to Inkscape for over a year, or who have committed actions that are harmful to the project or its community. Votes ----- a. Add the section to the FSA b. It needs more work, delay until next update of the FSA, ideas: ______ c. I think it should go in this revision of the FSA with a minor change: ______ d. We shouldn't be doing this

Background ---------- I was looking for section numbers for the other votes and noticed that Bryce's home address is in the FSA. The Internet is a scarier place than it was when that was written, and it serves no purpose, so proposing just cleaning it out. Proposal -------- Remove from the preamble of the FSA the text "Currently, the principal office of the Project is located at:" and the address that follows. Votes ----- a. Remove the address b.
