Inkscape 1.1 release candidate is available !

Hi to all Inkscapers! We just launched the Release Candidate of Inkscape 1.1, with a plan to have roughly three weeks of testing for a release around May 24th. You can get it here: ================================= https://inkscape.org/release/inkscape-1.1/?latest=1 ================================= (source tarball, linux appimage, windows installers and macOS dmg are available) We encourage you to use it as you would use Inkscape 1.1 stable, in order to find any problems people may encounter with the release. In particular, if you find any regressions, please do submit a bug report as soon as possible on https://inkscape.org/report : if nothing major is reported, the state of that release candidate should be close to the release. If you want to help with the translations to your language, it's still possible to submit those until close to the release date. Thanks to everyone involved in this release ! -- Marc

Potential change of venue for Board meetings

Hey folks. In order to collect discussions that are related to Inkscape's internal processes, ethics and policies, we've been kinking the idea around for a RocketChat Channel #board_room, which will be a place to house not only our board meetings, but also conversations that need the board's attention. Reasoning for this is: 1. To make it easy for board members to see conversation which is relevant to decisions the board will have to make, all in one place. 2. To keep the #team_devel channel for code development matters. 3. To keep other channels such as #team_vectors uncluttered 4. To allow project members who wish to participate in the discussion a place where their points are likely to be seen by board members (to reduce having to explain nuanced conversation again) Thus this new channel will be a digest for board members to scan through and see board-related matters before and after board meetings. This room would be open to everyone in the project just as board meetings have always been. Thoughts?

New contribution/funding pages

Dear board, I've put together the pages which are linked from our new welcome screen. They are there to encourage more of our users to contribute to the project and know how they might be able to make Inkscape better. The first is the contribute time page: https://inkscape.org/splash/contribute/ The second is the funding page: https://inkscape.org/splash/support/ The funding page links to a new supporting programmers page: https://inkscape.org/support-us/programmers/ I've tried to encapsulate where we are as a project on funding developers and what advice we've been given from the SFC. While it makes me sad that we can't seem to fund developers directly or event give links to users who want to fund developers, I understand the reasons. Since this is an important topic I'd like for the board to review the pages, and the wording. Once I've got the pages to a place where everything is satisfied, I'll send the SFC an FYI email with the links so they know what we're saying about funding. Does this seem like a reasonable plan? Dear SFC Legal, A plurality of the board have decided that this should be passed back to the SFC for review. Author, CS Ratliff is attempting to create a social media site for creative people and has called it Inkscape.
