Animation via png frames from Inkscape

Hi, I have been thrashing around the net looking for a solution and thought to ask here because I can't get no satisfaction ;) I want to draw the frames of a small animation (ajax throbber) with Ink. Ideally I would do this: 1. Draw the frames - all on one layer. Use tricks like interpolate etc. 2. Select everything and press *magic button* which would a. Split each object to it's own layer. So I can at least pull it into Gimp and animate/export from there. OR b. Allow me to export each to a png *without* anything in the background so I can go directly to imagemagick to make the final gif. The problem with things as I find them now (and I hope I am missing the obvious) is that exporting includes stuff that's underneath the bounding box. I want a clean single object/layer in my PNG per frame, not one including all the stuff around/behind it. A kind of 'batch export each item while hiding *all* others each time' option. Any hope ? \d

Inkscape cannot preserve the italics of imported pdf files

Dear All, Inkscape cannot preserve the italics of the text of an imported pdf file. Can this be considered a bug? I am using Inkscape 0.46 on Fedora 9 (Linux). Thanks in advance, Paul

landscape printing?

I know I saw someone else post something about this. I cannot seem to print in landscape mode in Inkscape 0.46. I used a slackbuild from Slackbuilds.org on Slackware 12.1 (source compile). I tried the workaround posted on the site below, but lpr apparently expects a printer directly hooked to a parallel port and mine is a network printer. https://bugs.launchpad.net/inkscape/+bug/219640 I also tried printing to a file and then to the printer (an HP LaserJet 6MP hooked to an HP JetDirect 300x Network printing interface), I still got portrait mode. I suppose I can do everything in Landscape, then group the whole works and rotate it 90 degrees, but I am wondering if someone has found a workaround for this.

outline-drawing for specific layers and general performance-improvements

Hello, currently i'am working on an relativly complex drawing. its a cinema seatplan.with all those detailed seats inkscape is renders really slow and freezes a lot of times. the outlinemode is working well but it would be nice if i could turn it on for only one or more specific layers. this is a feature-request.. some others ideas to speed up inkscape? its fine for simple graphics but gives a slow-motion-feeling at bigger jobs. i've read some discussions about multicore-support and i would also appreciate that. normally i'm a software-developer so my point of view is perhaps a little bit different from that one a normal user has. i know that this isn't a trivial thing but imho it has to be done to moving on to the magic you can do with adobe's illustrator or the freehand-thing. i'm not shure but i think that illustrator cannot do that too. whats about rendering with the gpu? a pluginable renderingsystem to be platform-independent. ok.. for now.. greetings and have a nice day :) -- Mit freundlichem Gruß Dennis Schulz Fon: +49.203.73 82 0 95 Mobil: +49.160.78 75 4 66 http://www.port42.org http://www.nuenni.de

bug?

Every once in a while, I get a path that I can't change the node type on or that won't let me draw out both control handles with shift/click on the node. I can pull one handle out, but when I go to do a second handle, it just moves the node itself instead of drawing out the handle. I am running .46 on a Slackware 12.1 installation.

Export by ID plus xpath

Hi. >From console it is possible to export selected elements by ID. It is great, but i don't like to remember all the ID and write/maintain a bash script for my projects. I prepare a work around: 1) prepare a layer with all export areas 2) generate by xslt a bash script that export all object in my selected layer. Good Grief to Grids

Okay, I'm getting really cheesed with the grids on Inkscape. Why does the grid spacing adjust when I zoom? And, why is it not at least proportional to the page/objects I'm working on? I cold live with it if it adjusted in constant multiples, but that doesn't seem to be the case. Thanks for the help, Aaron -- ironranger.deviantart.com

TikZ/PGF exporter ready for testing

Dear Inkscape-users, For some time now I have been working on an Inkscape extension for exporting to TikZ/PGF format for use with (La)TeX: http://code.google.com/p/inkscape2tikz/ It is similar in nature to the pstricks exporter already available in Inkscape. One obvious difference is that it relies on the PGF macro package. Another difference is that the output is higher level and easier to modify. Text is exported as plain TikZ nodes There are still a few rough edges, but the exporter is already in a usable state. If someone wants to experiment with it I would appreciate feedback and ideas on how to improve the exporter. Enjoy! Regards, Kjell Magne Fauske
