Get Previews from the Open Clip Art Library
by E. G. A.
Just an absolute newbie running Inkscape 0.48.2 in a well working,
really beautiful, vintage declared but loved computer (2.1 GHz PowerPC
G5 & Mac OS X.5.8).
To get Previews from the Open Clip Art Library*, it is needed to be
registered at the openclipart.org site and fill up the user account data
in the Inkscape Preferences**?
* File > Import from Open Clip...
** Import/Export > Open Clip Art Library Username & Password.
Thank you.

Batch export is saving the files where?
by Perry Kappetein
I am confused with the batch export under the Export
I have 40 images, and select them all and do batch export.
Its exporting the 40 images, but where?
I've done it a few times, and sometimes I have 20 icons on my desktop, all named g....png ( g with a 4 digit number)
And other times, there are no icons..
So where is it saving it?
Ive read the help, but that talks about changing the settings, which you can't, since it's greyed out
Thank you

How to set default fill and stroke for texts?
by Chris Green
I'm a new Inkscape user, I'm using it to draw some simple network
diagrams.
I seem to have got my text set up so that that default fill is 'None'
and the stroke is not 'None'. For the small size text I'm using this
produces rather rubbish looking text. I can't work out how to set the
defaults back to what they should be.
Clicking the 'Set as default' box in the text pop-up doesn't help, as
expected that sets the default font style and size.
Can anyone help?

Re: [Inkscape-user] Batch export is saving the files where?
by unknown@example.com
If I uncheck that, I just get 1 Image
I want 40 images.
It randomly puts some on my desktop, but where is the rest..
the progress bar is clearly processing image 1 of 40 , 2 of 40 etc..

Hi! I'm from Guatemala, and sorry for my bad english.
The problem is the check on "Batch export 40 selected", remove the check
that option. and select "selection" and export normally.

Save selected image
by Perry Kappetein
I've looked online and through the manual, but cannot find what I was
looking for, so I am not sure if you can do that.
When I select the image I want to save on my screen.
It's always selecting a bigger area around it.
Is there a way to just select that image without a big blank border around
it?
Tried the Custom as well, but I don't see anything happening.

Pixelate an svg using filters
by Antonio Roberts
Are there any working filters that are able to pixelate an svg? That
is, make an svg appear as though it were made from blocks?
I see the Pixelise filter effect in the filters list but this does it
very little.
Thanks,
Antonio

Re: [Inkscape-user] Urgent help needed + Erase possible?
by Perry Kappetein
It's not a SVG file, it was the PNG file I just imported.
But I got that part figured out.. (Exporting the png first, did the trick)
Now the other problem I am having it. (And I don't know if that's possible
or not)
If I import a PNG image.
Can I erase parts of it?
I tried adding a square on top to hide it, but that doesn't work, if I put
an effect over it.
So I need to delete part of the png, and keep the background Transparent.
Is that possible ?
Thank you

If we could see your SVG file, we could make suggestions. Otherwise, you
will need to open alvinpenner's SVG file and compare it to your own. When
your blue object is created like his, 2 closed paths, combined, it will
work.
We can't look at your PNG image, and know how it's created in Inkscape, as a
vector object.

sadness for photorealistic artists
by Brynn
Hi Friends,
As much as I'm SO happy with the new renderer that Inkscape acquired
new in 0.91, it seems to have taken away the ability to see the pixels,
which I rely on to locate the precise edges of of shapes, and to get
accurate colors (with Dropper tool), for photorealistic work.
When viewing raster images or photos, there are no pixels to be
seen, even zoomed in to 25,600%!! So I may have to tweak my workflow for
that. And I guess I'll have to go back to 0.48.5 to finish my in-progress
drawings. I might even have to give up photorealistic drawing, because
it's impossible to find the precise edges of objects, when the colors are
quite similar!
I suppose there will be no compromise possible -- to have the nice
performance of the new renderer, yet still be able to see the pixels of
photos or raster images?
Thanks for any comments :-)

Urgent help needed
by Perry Kappetein
Hello,
I am trying to figure this out for weeks, and I am lost.
I have my original image: https://www.dropbox.com/s/ni1jiik9q936131/help1.png?dl=0
Which has a transparent inside since it’s used for a bouncing ball.
I applied an effect button to it. (or any other effect)
To get this: https://www.dropbox.com/s/bjd9l5vr35a97ve/help2.png?dl=0
But I am losing my transparency.
Even in my other program, I selected Grey as transparency. It’s still not working.
So how can I fill it with an effect, that it’s only doing the blue part, and not the inside of it?
Or how can I make the Grey part transparent in Inkscape?
Thank you so much
