Red Spiral Challenge
by Aaron Elmquist
Does anyone know how to creat the red spiral with the continuous gradient in
Tavmjong Bah's "A Guide to Inkscape" I took a couple cracks at it last
night without much sucess.

Type1 Fonts on Windows XP
by Norvell Spearman
How do I configure Inkscape for Windows to see the Type1 fonts I have
installed? The GIMP sees them fine (which also uses freetype), as
does OpenOffice.org. The font names and corresponding pfb file names
even show up in my .fonts.cache-1 file but I still can't see them in
Inkscape. Thanks for any answers.

Inkscape SVG extension / CMYK support
by Cedric Sagne
Hi.
I was wondering there is any place where I could have more information about
feature support for Inkscape SVG vs plain SVG.
Also, I believe SVG does not support CMYK colour space colours (as per
Tavmjong Bah's brilliant userguide), and this is important for logos and
even EPS export gets imported in Scribus with RGB colours....
Any news on the planned CMYK support?

Aligning object centers to polygon vertices
by Benjamin Esham
Hello all,
I am trying to align five paths so that the center of each is located on a
vertex of a regular pentagon (or, equivalently, the point of a five-pointed
star). The paths are all different sizes. Does anyone know of a way to do
this?
Thanks a lot,

Transfering between layers
by unknown@example.com
I am at the new and learning stage with Inkscape
Layers - I am importing vector graphics that was previously was on different layers, that information has been lost in the transfer and I am now trying to re-establish the layer detail. I simply want to move items from Layer 1 to the new layers I have established, the help files don't seem to cover this.
All and any suggestions most welcome.
With thanks, Terry

Colour of End Markers
by Peter Hillier-Brook
Stupid question, for which I apologise, but can anyone tell me how to apply a
coloured stroke fill to an arrowhead end marker? The line that it terminates is
filled and stroked to my satisfaction and I'd assumed that end markers would
follow suit, but no, they remain stubbornly black. I've searched 'Help@ and
Tavmjong's splendid Inkscape Guide to no avail, so here I am with what must be
an FAQ.

Seeking documentation of Python bindings
by Kent Tenney
Howdy,
I'm interested in scripting extensions for Inkscape
with Python.
I've found the example scripts.
I haven't yet found;
- an explanation of the xml in the .inx file
- the api available to Python scripts
- a discussion of how Inkscape processes the share/extensions dir
Googling hasn't been very productive.
Thanks,
Kent

new ways to scroll and zoom
by bulia byak
I know adding prefs settings for individual shortcuts is evil, but
since we don't yet have a UI for editing keymaps, and these features
were requested A LOT, I think in this case it's justified:
* You can now enable Space+mouse drag to pan canvas, as it does
in Adobe Illustrator. This mode is enabled by the "Left mouse button
pans when Space is pressed" checkbox in the Scrolling tab of the
Inksape Preferences dialog. By default it is off and pressing the
spacebar key switches you to Selector and back, as it always did in
Inkscape.
* By default, rotating the mouse wheel scrolls the canvas
vertically and Ctrl+wheel zooms in and out. Now, if you turn on the
"Mouse wheel zooms by default" checkbox in the Scrolling tab of the
Inksape Preferences dialog, this behavior is reversed: mouse wheel
zooms without Ctrl and scrolls with Ctrl. This new mode should be
familiar for users of AutoCAD and CorelDraw.
* In the Zoom tool, right mouse button always zooms out instead of
calling the context menu (which is rather useless in this tool
anyway).
