Dear people,
first off all I have to say that I'M NOT A WINDOWS USER.
After, my boss, that is a windows user, would like to use inkscape. We have
tried to install it and basically we didn't have any problem. The question is
that we would like to know which dependencies needs inkscape to run in
windows, because we cannot use any import feature. So, we cannot open any ps,
eps, etc file.
We have tried to install python and perl, (without any success, or the import
feature doesn't work four us), but I have to say that I don't know very much
the windows platform (I'm very happy with the apt-get ;-)
So, please, could you tell me which software is necessary/recommend to run a
full inkscape in the Win platform? Somethink like to build it: x, y, z: To
run it, xa, yb, etc.
Best regards,
Leo

Hi list,
The logo is not enough guys, there should be some maskot for inkscape.
Linux has one, gimp has one, mozilla has one. The sooner it happens, the
better.
I created some mice with inkscape recently:
http://www.inf.sgsp.edu.pl/pub/MALUNKI/incoming/
and if you like the idea I could create some inkscape related mice or
similar animals, like http://www.inf.sgsp.edu.pl/pub/MALUNKI/2004/qcad2.png
I've created some mascot-logos already and personaly I believe
animal-mascots that can be drawn with hands and fingers (hard with birds
or tuxes) are best, because various objects can be nicely put in their
hands.
I don't want to force myself into official inkscape logo author, so the
contest could be a good idea too.

Hi,
In celebration of the 0.42.2 release, I have made a new release of my
book on Inkscape. It now covers more that 90% of the Inkscape user
interface. It is still a work in progress. The chapters at the beginning
and end need work and it is a bit short on examples. The book documents
v0.42. It will be updated for v0.43 when that release gets closer in
time. You can have a look at:
http://tavmjong.free.fr/INKSCAPE/MANUAL/html/index.php
Constructive comments and corrections are always welcome.

PS. Would it be possible to add a link to the book from the
Documentation page ( http://www.inkscape.org/doc/index.php ) ?
Hi,
Because it was asked here before :)
I've just discovered a small nifty utility to generate color triads:
http://home.gna.org/colorscheme/
You will need gtkmm (>2.5) and libgnomeui (>=2.0).

Hi list,
I would like to know if there is any restriction to publish some drawing
from http://www.openclipart.org/ been part of a commercial document
(like a book).
1-I know thar this subject is not about inkscape, but the drawing are
all svg type.
2-I don't want to subscribe to another users list (I have more than 6 now)
I hope not bother you.
sincerely
Ezequias
I'm having trouble importing an eps file into

Any ideas?

Hello,
is there an option so save text as text in Inkscape when exporting
Postscript or PDF? Something must be implemented because when saving as
EPS, there is a checkbox for this, but this is missing for PS and PDF.
It would be very nice because the display quality in Adobe Reader is
much better and the text can be copied.

Bernhard
Hello all,
once upon a time ..., no seriously couple of weeks ago I have been
contacted by Joseph Merdas ( shemeri_at_hotmail_dot_com ). He writes a
thesis about optimizing SVG. He had couple of questions and needed some
answers. I promised him to contact the inkscape list with the many
friedly peopels dealing with svg every day for further feedback and
background info.
Joseph examines how to optimize SVG in different ways:
-optimize for render speed,
-optimize for size
-etc
He has ideas about some tricks that also inkscape is using by simplify
feature, also reordering the elements, moving the attributes, etc.
One of his concerns is that the change in the structure of a document
may corrupt the document for build-in ECMA-script proccessing. Because
the elements are differtly orderd, are vanished or have different
attributes etc. and so the DOM is deifferent.
Now he has the first result ready. An java implemented optimizer, that
also checks the rendering results.
I would please everyone to give some feedback. His project page can be
found at:
http://myfriendsnet.com/svg/survey.php
Many thanks,
Adib.
