looking for book cover design (about free and open source)
by Jeremy C. Reed
I am looking for a book cover illustrator.
I read this article http://www.linux.com/articles/114172 about using
inkscape to design book cover.
If this mailing list is not appropriate for my request, please kindly
suggest another forum.
The idea of the book cover is to include the FSF gnu, McKusick's daemon,
and Ewing's penguin. (We will get permission as required.) Or some other
artwork covering this theme: "a history of free and open source" and "how
free and open software is changing the world".

Export EPS with transparent background
by Jeff Kowalczyk
Using Inkscape trunk: I have a logo I maintain in a master SVG file
with document properties backgrount white #FFFFFFFF. For a transparent
copy, I manually save with the document-properties background transparent
#FFFFFF00.
For the transparent version, PNG export works fine, but Encapsulated
Poststscript EPS always renders a white background when pasted into
OpenOffice-2.3.
OpenOffice-2.3 does not seem to support SVG 'insert Picture'. How do I
create an OpenOffice-compatible vector format with transparency?
Thanks.

newbie question
by Stéphane ANCELOT
Hi,
I am able to make some nice drawing.Great!
I have 2 grouped objects I want to superpose, but without the transparence.
I want to overlap it (like a normal ms paint program would) . However I
tried using paths ... with these grouped objects and do not manage to do it.
What is the way to accomplish this ?
Best Regards

arrow head pointing wrong way
by Rich E
Hi,
I am trying to draw a simple line, from left to right, with an arrow on the
end, like this: ----------------->
I make the line, go to Fill and Stroke properties, seld an end marker and I
get something like this --------------------^
(the arrow head is pointing upwards to the end of the line).
what is going on... you would think it would point away from the end of the
line, but it is point at the end of line, perpendicular to it.

Rich

Perspective to multi colored composed objects
by Ocetalo
In the attached SVG/screenshot you'll find three objects. The first is
composed by multiple objects of the same color, combinated into a single one
in order to apply perspective - which was succesful as seen below it. Now,
the other two are composed by different colored objects and I want to apply
perspective just as they are. However, that can't be done on multiple
objects, and when combinating or blending all composing parts merge and turn
the same color. Any solution? Please help.
God bless you.

How to upgrade to Inkscape 0.46
by Ocetalo
Greetings
Sorry, I seem to be always late to everything. Had no idea ver. 0.46 was
already released. Is it fully stable? Could you please explain me how to
upgrade to 0.46? Do I have to uninstall 0.45 and install 0.46? I'm a Windows
(Vista) user. Thanks in advance.

Objects loose layer information after group-ungroup
by sm4vlm@...2533...
Hi
I work as a technical writer and use Inkscape to modify PDF-files.
I been working on a picture and have separeted the layers as :
-text,
-line objects,
-dotted line objects
-filled objects
This made it simpy to change the color/linewidth for each layer. Just
lock all the other layers and select the things on the remaining
layer, change color for the objects, unlock the layers, and then carry
on working ....
When I group together objects from different layers and later ungroup
them, all of the objects ends up att the same layer insted of the
layer they where before grouping.
I would like that the ungrouped object remain on the same layer as it
had before grouping similar to the handling of blocks/layers in
Autocad.
Or is there a other way to work that I might have missed?
