Just a quick FYI... I fixed the "polar bear in a snowstorm" problem with the eraser tool, in which it was always using the last style used and would be hard to see. The preferences are now in the UI, and the defaults should be set up nicer.

arrow head pointing wrong way

Hi, I am trying to draw a simple line, from left to right, with an arrow on the end, like this: -----------------> I make the line, go to Fill and Stroke properties, seld an end marker and I get something like this --------------------^ (the arrow head is pointing upwards to the end of the line). what is going on... you would think it would point away from the end of the line, but it is point at the end of line, perpendicular to it. regards, Rich

Perspective to multi colored composed objects

In the attached SVG/screenshot you'll find three objects. The first is composed by multiple objects of the same color, combinated into a single one in order to apply perspective - which was succesful as seen below it. Now, the other two are composed by different colored objects and I want to apply perspective just as they are. However, that can't be done on multiple objects, and when combinating or blending all composing parts merge and turn the same color. Any solution? Please help. How to upgrade to Inkscape 0.46

Greetings Sorry, I seem to be always late to everything. Had no idea ver. 0.46 was already released. Is it fully stable? Could you please explain me how to upgrade to 0.46? Objects loose layer information after group-ungroup

Hi I work as a technical writer and use Inkscape to modify PDF-files. I been working on a picture and have separeted the layers as : -text, -line objects, -dotted line objects -filled objects This made it simpy to change the color/linewidth for each layer. Just lock all the other layers and select the things on the remaining layer, change color for the objects, unlock the layers, and then carry on working .... When I group together objects from different layers and later ungroup them, all of the objects ends up att the same layer insted of the layer they where before grouping. I would like that the ungrouped object remain on the same layer as it had before grouping similar to the handling of blocks/layers in Autocad. Or is there a other way to work that I might have missed? // Gunnar Lestander

Problem with paper size...

Hi, Having some trouble with printing from Inkscape. My document is A1, and it's set to A1 paper size in Inkscape. My guy with the A1 printer wants a pdf file. I can print to pdf using CutePDF. However, although the document is A1 according to Inkscape, and every printer setting I can find is set to A1 as well, the resulting pdf is an A4 page showing only the upper-left corner of the A1 document. Using CutePDF I printed from powerpoint to A0 with no trouble, and generated an A0 pdf. This leads me to think it's something to do with inkscape... so I don't understand why this is happening. Can anyone help? Dave

Change the start marker of a line

Hi, If I make a start marker to a segment in the Option > Fill and Stroke > Stroke style panel, I get an 'arrow' object. How can I modify the size of the start marker independently of the width of the segment? Thanks, Máté

Using SVG and Javascript for in-browser animation and graphic controls

Perhaps not of specific interest to the majority of inkscape users, but I was listening to a recent podcast (Floss Weekly - http://www.twit.tv/floss29) and the interviewee described some experimental work ongoing with javascript and SVG support in the browser to do some neat things. Note that it will only work in the newer betas of FF3 and in Safari3 I think due to better native SVG support in those browsers.

Hybrid Inkscape/Blender/Gimp creation

Someone on the IndyMogul video production forum was after this particular effect for some video titles. Just for the heck of it, I wanted to see if I could create the effect using only open source software. I made the text in Inkscape, then dropped a rectangle in behind the text. Converted the text to a path and used the path to cut the text shape out of the rectangle. Saved the .svg. The .svg was then imported into Blender and extruded very slightly, the material was set to dead black. A haloed spotlight was then animated behind the text and aimed toward the camera. The resulting frames of animation were then imported into Gimp and made into an animated .gif file with GAP (Gimp Animation Package) Below is the result. 1 meg .gif file. http://img231.imageshack.us/img231/4851/halotextvx4.gif
