Using to different fonts in the same text string

Hi, Since I'm typing lines that contain multiple language (Chinese+French) I need to be able to at least have the Chinese with its font (one of the arphic fonts, esp. uming.ttf), and the rest with another font (DejaVu serif or Times New Roman). How can I achieve this? I'm using the latest autopackage (dates from september I think, I haven't seen any newer ones on the site). Thanks a lot, Loic

Which Non-Latin Scripts Do Free Software Fonts Not Cover?

Hi All, I've just started the Masters degree in Typeface Design at the University of Reading (for which Gentium was a submitted project) and we're expected to do a non-latin script complement to our font, and I'd thought I'd ask around if anyone here has any opinions about the following: Are there non-latin scripts that free software fonts do not cover at all at the moment? Which non-latin script communities are adopting free software and would benefit from more fonts? :-) -- Regards, Dave

The problem occurs on both, Windows and Linux; and my tablet is from Genius. Everything is ok in GIMP, so I am not sure if this is an exclusively GTK problem.

viewBox and inkscape.svg's with other programs...

Let me get this strait. I am developing a program to make svg's that where created in inkscape and merge them together to make an avatar. http://launchpad.net/memaker. If I am not mistaken, the viewBox is the area of which is veiwable by aplications? This may be why we have this bug... When we merge multiple images with our merging library, the images don't showup correctly in the preview screen, and when they are saved... they are in the right proportions... but not in the right viewBox area. To best explain it... I would just try the program out. Select a head and a feiw other features and you will see the changes.... then save the image and look at it in inkscape. text editing???

Hello, I am using the August 30th build (as with the more recent ones I can't save as PS/EPS, it closes the program), and there is something that I think is wrong with text editing: If I have a long one-line text, and hit <enter> in the middle of it, I end up with two separate block of text, no longer one text. Import/Export of bitmaps

Could someone offer guidance as to why a bitmap (PNG) measuring 600 x 350 px becomes 640 x 373 px after a round trip through Inkscape 0.45? I'm running on Windows XP SP2 and my objective is to add some drawing elements to a bitmap image (in their own layer(s) and within the dimensions of the bitmap). The original image was created at 96dpi, however it appears to "grow" on import to Inkscape. Inkscape preferences are also set to export at 96dpi, resulting in the over-sized new bitmap. Selecting objects with same stroke-paint and/or same stroke-style

Hi everyone, can anybody tell me if there is a possibility to select objects like curves and lines by their stroke-paint and/or their stroke-style? Is such a feature available or planed? The reason why I'm searching for this feature is this: I'm a technical writer and sometimes I've got to put technical drawings from CAT-systems into my documentations. I've read in the inkscape-roadmap that their is a dxf-import/export planed for version 0.51 and it would be nice to work with this files in inkscape. The lines in this documents have got different colours and different strokes that have got different meanings - in most cases i put all this colours into black for printed documentation - the meaning of the colours isn't important at most places and its easier to read than all lines are black. To still keep the information in that drawings (this is useful in some cases) i differ the width of the stroke e.g. all red lines -> 0.25mm, all green lines -> 0.21mm … In Illustrator this is possible by selecting all objects by stroke-paint and stroke-style. Well, than this feature doesn't exists I'll post this suggestion into the developer-mailinglist. It would be great than this actions would be available at the same time with the dxf-import/export. PostScript LanguageLevel

Hi, PostScript/EPS export uses PostScript level 2 and (sometimes) level 3 operators. According to the EPS specification, a LanguageLevel comment is then mandatory. However, Inkscape does not provide one. -- Johan

Export to .AI format?

I have a design I would like to export for others who use Adobe Illustrator, preferably in a way that preserves the layers. Does any such extension exist? Hi bulia, Joshua, and all: I apologize for my delay in replying to your messages. I just got back from the UIST conference, where I met many UI researchers -- and fellow Inkscape users. Thanks for your enthusiasm about the undo-saving feature! We would like to release the code for this for all the reasons you mentioned: to comply with the GPL, to get users across platforms, and ultimately to contribute to the Inkscape project. [We'd also welcome help identifying and fixing bugs. :)] What is the best way to do this? As the number of files touched is small, perhaps the fastest is to post these on our website, then work on adding the changes to the SVN trunk. Thanks for your invitation to do so.
