OT: Using SVG with mozilla-firefox

Hey, Has anyone used SVG with firefox? Using porable firefox 1.5, (freshly downloaded) this gives me weird results! Both SVGs were created with InkScape, and are just plain (small) red triangles. The 'embed' version seems to work ok, but only the first 'object' triangle is displayed, and nothing after the 2nd - for example the word 'after' is never printed. UML logo

Hi list, I was looking for a UML logo in different formats, but I didn't find out a large one. So I did one in inkscape. I just want to know if is possible to publish it on the openclipart.org or we need to ask to OMG (http://www.omg.org/legal/graphical_style.htm) to use publish it ? I just believe that the UML logo is a trademark. It is possible to publish it as public domain without ask OMG ? Importing .pdfs?

Has anyone successfully imported a .pdf file with Inkscape on Linux? I found some documentation about Windows (http://wiki.inkscape.org/cgi-bin/wiki.pl?GettingExtensionsWorking) but nothing regarding Linux. Just checking. Thanks, -Ben Stafford.

Importing .ai Files

I have been trying to figure out how to import .ai files into Inkscape. Has anyone succeeded in doing this? I have installed ImageMagick, PerlMagick, and have a current enough version of perl installed. I am running ubuntu Breezy and installed ImageMagick and PerlMagick through Synaptic. When I attempt to import an .ai file, I get the "warning" message shown below in the Import dialog window. Has anyone else had similar troubles? If so, why and what am I doing wrong? I know that Inkscape can only handle older .ai files. Am I trying to import an .ai format that is too current? Thanks, -Ben Stafford. Printing configuration problems (can't set printer)

Hi, I can't seem to figure out how to get inkscape to send the output to the correct printer: When I select the "Print/Ctrl-P" menu item, it just sends the file to a printer without providing a choice or dialog. I can 't seem to find a settings dialog for a default printer. When I use "Print Direct", I get a valid ps file that does print properly via lpr. (And looks great!) I am running Inkscape 0.43. I am running Gentoo system, with libgnomeprint-2.10.3 and gnome of 2.10. Printing from gedit brings up a printer selection dialog and works properly. Any ideas? Is this the correct behaviour for Ctrl-P, or should there be a dialog? (If there are any developers reading) It also seems to me that the menu items are inconsistant/wrong. An ellipsis in a menu item to me implies there will be a follow-up dialog, whereas one without performs a direct action, so it should be (assuming that the correct behaviour for Print is to *not* bring up a dialog) "Print Direct ..." Yesterday I decided to install the 64 bit version of Kubuntu on my laptop. When I went to install the autopackage of Inkscape 0.43 an error occurred when it tried to download and install autopackage itself: "autopackage/libexec/autosu-gtk: error while loading shared libraries: libgtk-x11-2.0.so.0: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory" This suggests to me that it's a problem with my machine trying to install autopackage, not with how Inkscape's specific package was set up -- however because there had been a problem in the past with some of the development build packages I wanted to check in and make sure. (Currently the kubuntu apt-get resources only contain the 0.42 release, or I'd just that...) Christopher B. Angles

Is it possible to measure angles in inkscape. I have completed the second edition of my crime scene symbols (will upload to open clip art) and I am now attempting to create templates for bloodstain pattern analysis. I can accurately measure bloodstains and use those figures for trajectory analysis with inkscape (very cool). In order to take the next leap I would need to be able to measure angles in inkscape. The long range goal would to have a worksheet in inkscape where the entire stain can be reconstructed and the point of origin determined. Great for court and easy to use. Currently investigators are using measuring tapes and protractors. Inkscape is an incredible program and thanks to all of those that work so hard to make it all that it is.

Text spacing.

Hi. I need paste a long text in my image, and I would like to add the text spacing, i mean the space between two letters. I found out i can use Alt+Right, but using this way i need to add the space after every single symbol. Is there a way to do it automagically? thanks a lot.

Hello, I'm interested in a free "whiteboard" program, for teaching over the internet. I saw that inkscape is supposed to include inkboard, which sounds like it should do exactly what I want. New set of crispy icons for Inkscape

Hello all, I've made a new set of Icons for Inkscape ("crispy_icons.svg"). You may find them in may home page along with some crude instruction... http://placide.home.sapo.pt/inkscape/index.html I know it is not a beauty?!? My goal was to make icons: - Crispy - Similar to the ones from the stock icons (gnome) Since 16x16 px icons are quite small I create a pixel grid and made the icons this exact same size. Of course if, for some reason, we change their size, they won't look as good anymore (but who wants to do that?!). the file is a little bit bigger than the original. If this is an issue, I can try to make it smaller (I don't know if it is possible). I left some icons on the up right corner of the page since I don't know what they are for?! Of course feel free to do what ever you want with them they are totaly free, use and abuse (GPL or whatever, I have to read it some day!). printing problems in 0.43

Hi all, I have problems with printing since 0.41. I set page A4, draw graphics and print. But all is moved by half of a page up on paper. I've made it by Print direct.. "| lp" before, but this function disappeared. Running on gentoo64, cups-1.1.23-r4. All other apps are printing well. Any ideas? Mac OSX 10.4.3 issue

Hello, I had recommended Inkscape to a friend who, it turns out, uses Mac OSX 10.4.3 and he had trouble. I thought I'd pass along his response (see below) just in case it's helpful to the developers and just in case someone can pass along a fix. PDF bounding box on Linux

When I SAVE AS pdf a drawing with a custom page size, the PDF always looks like it's on A4 paper---even when the drawing is a fraction of that size. Is there a way to get a proper bounding box on the drawing? I've found that the only thing that works is to save as EPS, then use eps2pdf to convert the drawing. It works, but it rasterizes the drawing in evince and looks like crap. There has been a lot of traffic on the mailing list about PDF, from which I've gleaned that there are problems with PDF, but I wasn't able to nail down exactly what works today on what platforms, and how best to convert an Inkscape drawing to PDF today.
