need Linux version of 0.91pre1

I managed to download an MSWin 7 version of 0.9pre1 but have had no luck with compiling the same version on Slackware Linux. I also have Knoppix and SUSE. Is there a compiled version of pre1 for any Linux distro? Problem when applying textures to rectangle

Hi, when applying a texture to a rectangle, I can see a white horizontal lines as you can see on the attached image. I have the same problem with the rest of my textures. I have 0.48.5 on ubuntu 14.04

The following web page has a feature whereby if the mouse hovers over a thumbnail illustration it expands to a full size representation. when one moves the mouse off the particular illo it reverts to thumbnail again. The function uses a javascript program called: oodomimagerollover.js The web page is: http://wexfordpress.com/illos.html I like to experiment with using svg programs instead of html programs for web pages. How do I convert 2 parallel and filled lines to one line with thickness?

Hello, I am new to vector editing software - so I might use the wrong terms. But I hope you understand my question. I have a gif image of a black & white stick figure. I am using inkscape and the tracing tool (Shift+Alt+B) to trace it with default settings. Everything looks fine. Now I want to change the shape of the lines with the "edit path by notes tool" and realise that the tracing tool did not convert the lines of the stick figure to one line with a certin thickness. Instead it converted the lines to two parallel lines that are filled. *My question now is: Is there a tool or something to convert these two parallellines that are filled to one line with a certain thickness?* Thanks, Mike

Inkscape 0.48.5 Released

Greetings! The Inkscape community is proud to announce the stable bug-fix release of Inkscape version 0.48.5. This is the fifth bug fix release for 0.48 and it contains over 60 bug fixes to improve stability and functionality on all platforms (over 190 for OS X since our last available package). Check out the release notes [1] for a summary of some of the fixes and improvements, the milestone page [2] for the full list of closed bug reports, or just jump right to downloading [3] your package for Windows, Linux or Mac OS X. Follow objects when snapped

Hello, I try to translate the Inkscape labels back to English from German, therefore they may not be exactly the same. In Inkscape there are object connectors (Objektverbinder) which can snap to another objects border. Can I set these connectors to stay snapped to the object, even when the object is being moved? I downloaded the latest Inkscape yesterday and since then I have seemingly a couple of adware programs installed on my system. One of the programs wants to give me free cloud storage, while another load 2 ads each time I open Firefox. Does anyone know if that came from downloading Inkscape or if that was just a coincident Thanks for any info Jake

Website Testing

Hi Inkscape Users, I've been working almost exclusively on the inkscape website, and I need some testers to run through the new features. report issues and review everything before I push it live. I'm pretty excited by these features, and I hope you will be too. The staging website: http://staging.inkscape.org The new features are an upgraded profile page, a paste bin, a gallery (with svg support). Which you should be able to upload a certain amount of art, screenshots etc. This amount is controlled by a quota (because the web server is tiny, so I hope to get a bigger server disk). All these require you to be logged in, you may need to make a user account on the staging machine, the users are different from the inkscape main website (different database). Hi to all! I finish my first "a bit producced" video [1] about SpiroLive feature in inkscape. I want to do the same whith all others features i develop... For the moment in the video page i put a share of all sources i use to develop the video. New releases?

Have there been any discussions as to when the next version of Inkscape will be formally released? We've been on 0.48.4 since December 2012. In mid-December 2013 you announced that version .49 would be released as version .91, but since then there has been no information since about version .91 -- what it would do, when it would be available, nothing. Obviously Inkscape works well enough for my needs, since I'm still using it, I'm just wondering what the plans are for moving it forward. -- Christopher B. Wright (wrightc@...537...)

Judah: Buddy, it helps if you read what I wrote. I never said that the PDFs created by inkscape are ready for press. I've always talked about taking them to Scribus to export them as PDF. You can use an intermediate or late binding workflow that way. Early binding is simply impossible using Inkscape, but using inkscape as a tool in your intermediate/late binding pipeline is possible, and valid for professional print. I've talked against the knowledge that early-binding is the only way to go for press. Because it is not. If you're using an intermediate or late binding workflow, it is not a problem that Inkscape doesn't support CMYK. Now, if you want to twist again all that I say just because you want to win this one, go ahead. Gez.

Your CMYK values are meaningless if you don't know the colorspace they're tied to. Your CMYK values won't print the exact color you want if you take them to two different presses with different setups and paper stocks. Of course they are tied to the press settings, and ICC profiles are how you communicate it to the color management engine. Anyway, maybe you missed the point of what I tried to say (or I did a lousy job explaining it, it's possible too :-) The point is that you can get good results with a intermediate binding workflow. I'm not saying that you should send RGB. If you do everything in RGB in Inkscape and let Scribus to convert the RGB values to the desired CMYK profile, you'll get good results. As Chris pointed out, there are some aspects that have to be considered, and black type is one of them. If your print provider doesn't have the specific preflight rules for it, black will be printed as composite black and you don't want that for your small type. In that case, you can replace the RGB black 100% K in Scribus (or in inkscape with the CMS tab before taking the SVG to Scribus). As I mentioned in the other mail, I do that all the time with excellent results, and some of the stuff I do that way goes to top print providers who print large runs for national distribution. Believe me I wouldn't use this software for that if I wasn't sure about it. Gez.
