I'm using Inkscape to make web flash-style animations. I use the XML Editor to create and edit the SMIL animation tags, so I would like to see in Inkscape: 1.- Improved XML Editor 1.1- This bug fixed: https://bugs.launchpad.net/inkscape/+bug/663779 1.2- Improved User Interface, more intuitive way to add attributes, change it's values, add and rearrange tags. 2.- SMIL Animation support 2.1- A timeline to see how the graphics change on the animations. This timeline could be absolute-time based, but also event-base (e.g.: somegraphic.click) 2.2.- User Interface for adjusting animation's attributes, spline editor, etc...

I work with printing press, in my experience opacity use to be a issue. I suggest to edit the image in GIMP, KRITA or PHOTOSHOP to the color level that you need and then import the edited image into your design. opacity issue going to print

I'm fairly new to graphics and Inkscape, so please be patient with my ignorance. I created a brochure with text on one layer over a .pdf of a photo at 300 dpi on another layer. I set the opacity of the photo at 15% and exported the file to .pdf and sent it to my print shop. On screen both on my Mac in Inkscape or Preview and on their Windows machines with Photoshop the photo in the background was clearly visible. When they print it with a color inkjet printer it looks good too. Any darker made the text too hard to read. When they printed it on their high volume printer you could not see the photo at all, however. They looked at it closer and told me the darkest area of the photo was 8%. Can anyone explain this and more importantly can anyone tell me how to adjust the opacity to make it come out 15-20% in the final file. This is a fairly large run, so trial and error doesn't work. I don't know whether to guess that the opacity is 7% low and make it 22%, or is it only half of what it should be and make it 30%. Freezing guides.

The Perfect Cover function creates guides. I like to add a guide down the exact center of each of the three panels, back, spine and front. This helps in centering objects or moving text on the spine so that he x height of the text was along the centerline. To do that I need to know where the existing guides are. The rulers along the top and left side are not fine-grained enough. I can double click on a guide and get its location via the Guide line dialog. But it is all too easy to move the guide or even snap it to a nearby guide instead. Two features would help me out. If I could freeze guides in place temporarily that would help me access the guide location without moving it. Alternatively if there were a window where all the guides are listed by location, similar to what Scribus uses, then I could calculate and add the center line guides there instead. Currently my only safe path is to snap a vertical line to the guides in a temporary layer so that if the guide moves I can snap it back to the vertical line. Or I can undo the unwanted move if I catch it in time. Hi Inkscapers, Did you know the new website has the ability to edit your profile and add a photo? So far and rather excitingly we have 543 registered accounts to the inkscape website and some have added their pictures: http://imagebin.org/281976 [1] I'm asking inkscape board members and other developers to upload something for themselves, a photo, a little bio if you have one. Ruler granularity.

Antiquarian that I am I prefer measurements in inches. However when I zoom in the rulers still only show tick marks to the nearest 1/8 in. verb DialogLivePathEffect: how to use it ?

Hello, I would like to understand how to apply a hatch effect on an object. I saw the "DialogLivePathEffect: Manage, edit, and apply path effects (Shift+Ctrl+7)" option, but I would like to know how to set it right. --select=myobject --verb DialogLivePathEffect but then, nothing. How does that work ? I would like to edit the different values inside as well.. Thanks !

Ungroup to text blcks

I have only been using Inkscape for a short while, but noticed a problem. If one has a PDF page with just text produced by LaTeX, then imports this into Inkscape, the text is one huge block, which ungroup does not touch. Is there a solution to this problem? Not all PDF files are like this.... Brian.

New grid creation extensions for inkscape available

Hi, all. I've created three new grid creation extensions for inkscape. The first is an update to Cartesian Grid that allows the use of real units (inch, mm, cm, point) in addition to pixels and allows adjusting the color of each graphic element (Border, X Major grid, X minor grid, X sub minor grid, Y major grid, Y minor grid, Y sub minor grid). The second is a triangular grid creator that can be used to create grids with triangular meshes. The third is a perspective grid creator that creates adjustable 2-point perspective grids. Each of these grids can be useful for hand sketching aids, which is why I created them. You can get the extensions at: https://github.com/cds4/inkscape-grids I hope you find them helpful. Bug in conversion of line to outline

Hi, I've been working on a simple design for a logo. For some strange reason, when I try to convert the lines to an outlined path, I loose some rounded corners, while others remain. Make document square; keep contents centered

I feel like I must be missing something *really* obvious, but I can't figure out how to do this. I have a rectangular document that I need to make square, while keeping the contents centered. I.e., I need to add equal amounts to the left and right side of the document. How can I do this? I've tried simply entering the desired margin sizes in the Document Properties dialog, but it has no effect. Changing the width of the document to match the height extends the document to the right, but it leaves the contents in their current position, which is now shifted to the left. Extension to align boxes around text

Lots of bits of text with boxes around them? Here's an extension to automatically resize all the boxes to fit all the texts with specified padding, all at once. You just draw the boxes approximately in the right place and the extension tidies everything up. https://gist.github.com/tbnorth/7420972 Perhaps something like this could be bundled with Inkscape? New standard location of X11: /Applications/Utilities/XQuartz.app

In recent versions of Mac OS X and X11, X11 installs as /Applications/Utilities/XQuartz.app. Could Inkscape look there by default, before asking the user to Browse for it?
