Remote for jessyink presentations -- on a mac, anyway

Found something really cool! On a mac (at least on my 2007 model mac mini, anyway), the apple remote that comes with it can be used, in conjunction with a program called NeoRemote, (http://www.jfedor.org/neoremote/) ... to switch slides in jessyink. NeoRemote was intended to allow the apple remote to be used for slide transitions with NeoOffice presentations. (NeoOffice is a version of Open Office for the mac, but their presentations are kinda lame, no anti-aliasing) It remaps the remote buttons to emulate keyboard keys. There are other such programs for the apple remote, but NeoRemote is free. This works in Safari, Firefox, Opera, and Google Chrome. (As probably would be expected, but ya never know...)

Printing to Minolta 1350W problems

I have a Minolta 1350W PagePro printer and I am having problems printing different sized medium. I create a doc page size of 3.5"x5.5" and draw what I need to draw. Now the problem happens when I try to print. The Minolta feeds paper in the middle. I.e. there are two paper edge slides that meet in the middle. But, when printing, inkscape wants the to start printing at the far left. So, it entirely misses the card! Plus, the Minolta can not feed unless the card stock is placed in the center. The printing options have nothing to correct this. You can not even select standard paper size options that the ppd allows. Only paper thickness. So how do I get inkscape top print where the printer has the media, in the center? tj

Installing Inkscape on Scientific Linux

Hello Folks, As you know Scientific Linux is intended to be a more secure and stable version of RedHat. uname -a results in: Linux "systemname" 2.6.18-164.11.1.el5 #1 SMP Wed Jan 20 01:05:28 EST 2010 i686 i686 i386 GNU/Linux and the file: /etc/redhat-release gives: Scientific Linux SL release 5.4 (Boron) From an earlier attempts I learned to install glibmm. among other packages. This module was installed with the rpm-command: rpm -ivh glibmm24-2.8.12-1.i386.rpm warning: glibmm24-2.8.12-1.i386.rpm: Header V3 DSA signature: NOKEY, key ID Preparing... ########################################### [100%] 1:glibmm24 ########################################### [100%] So I-am somewhat confused that with installing Inkscape there is an error- message that package glibmm is not found, see below. So trying to install Inkscape, which is: inkscape-0.47.tar.gz the ./configure command in the end results in: checking for CAIRO_USER_FONTS... no checking for INKSCAPE... configure: error: Package requirements (gdkmm-2. glibmm-2.4 giomm-2.4 gtkmm-2.4 >= 2.10.0 gtk+-2.0 libxml-2.0 >= 2.6.11 libxslt >= 1.0.15 cairo sigc++-2.0 >= 2.0.12 gthread-2.0 >= 2.0 libp 1.2 gsl) were not met: No package 'gdkmm-2.4' found No package 'glibmm-2.4' found No package 'giomm-2.4' found No package 'gtkmm-2.4' found No package 'sigc++-2.0' found No package 'gsl' found Consider adjusting the PKG_CONFIG_PATH environment variable if you installed software in a non-standard prefix.
