Hi all,
I ask this question every few years, and it's time to ask it again.
I love Inkscape and would love to use its .svg files directly on my
websites. The problem is that I use lots of translations, rotations and
other manipulations, and these are recorded in my .svg files as logs of
all the translations and rotations, rather than the absolute locations.
This is a problem for two reasons:
1. Browsers must perform all these translations and rotations, eating
the visitor's CPU and time.
2. I can't submit an Inkscape authored diagram, even a simple one, to
an AI, because the AI can't reverse engineer the translations and
rotations.
So I end up converting to (bigger and bloatier) .png or .pdf on my
website, and submitting ASCII art to the AI.
There's all sorts of folk tales about various ways to unwind all the
translations and rotations in an Inkscape drawing, but invariably they
haven't worked for me. But maybe something has changed. I use Inkscape
1.4.3 on Void Linux.
