add new row/col in gradient mesh?
by brynn
Hi Friends,
Is it possible to add a new row or column to the gradient mesh, after
the mesh is already created? I've looked at the wiki page, but it doesn't say.
I've tried double-clicking on a row or column, but it doesn't add any new
node/stop or row or column. I've tried spinning the number on the control bar,
but doesn't do it either.
I know that double-clicking on a regular linear or radial gradient is
supposed to add a stop, but it doesn't work for me. I always have to use the
gradient control bar to add new stops. So I wouldn't be surprised if that's how
the mesh is supposed to work, but doesn't.
I'm thinking of posting a feature request "bug" report, but not sure
whether I need to ask for the ability to add nodes/stops, rows or columns; or
just the extra button on the control bar.
Thanks for your help,
brynn

no redo in 0.92pre3
by brynn
Hi Friends,
I don't seem to have any redo capability in 0.92pre3. I know since
0.91, it's been not working properly
(https://bugs.launchpad.net/inkscape/+bug/1372151). But at least after making
certain actions, it would jump into action. But now, I haven't seen it working
at all, through making a fairly significant image (to test the gradient mesh).
(It's almost finished.)
Aside from using the gradient mesh tool, I've used a ton of node editing
(which is what would bring the redo back into action in 0.91, but doesn't now),
some filters, some clipping, an extension, used a layer blending mode. But at
no time have I been able to redo anything. The button remains grayed out
constantly.
Windows 7 Pro, 64-bit, Inkscape 0.92pre3, 64-bit, 7z package.
Any other info I can provide? Should I make a bug report?
Thanks,
brynn

Re: [Inkscape-user] how to uninstall
by Victor Westmann
Hy there.
Schones Neues Jarh!
Indeed this is uncommon. A terrible solution would be to try to reinstall
all files and then copy the log files of where all files where copied to
and then manually remove them. :(
If you don't have any icon in control panel, start menu, desktop or inside
the main program folder I would assume deleting is not terrible... but yew
it would leace some lost files behind.
Tough question! Wish you luck.

I'm still looking to uninstall this. Does anyone know how to handle it?
I've always heard that you should not delete any program which was installed
with exe installer, because it really would not be uninstalled. So I
hesitate
to delete it. But I don't know what else to do.
Also, I wonder if this might point to a problem with the installer. I'm
pretty
sure I know what caused it. When I installed it, I changed the name of the
folder where it wanted to put it. The installer wanted to put it in a
folder
called "Inkscape". But I wanted the version number (because eventually I'll
have more than 1 version) so I changed it to "Inkscape 091".
I don't know why the installer allows that to be changed, if it's going to
cause
a problem. But I'd be happy just to get it uninstalled.
Any Windows user who has an idea?
Thanks again,
brynn

Hi Victor,
Thanks, and jingle bells :-D
Perhaps I didn't use proper terminology and you didn't understand me. But
I've
already tried that. There is no uninstall.exe (or uninst.exe, which I've
seen
in some programs) or uninstall.msi. And since it doesn't show up in Start
> All
Programs, I can't uninstall from there either.
I might add that I've tried installing Inkscape again, and put in a separate
folder. And that one does show up in Programs and Features and therefore
can be
uninstalled. And I did uninstall it, after that test.
So I guess something must have gone wrong when I installed the first time.
But
I would like to get rid of it, and install a copy that contains the proper
way
of uninstalling. I just don't know how to do it, without any of the usual
ways
being available.
Thanks again :-)

Hi Brynn,
since I'm a long time Windows user I can try to help you (even though I'm
on a
Mac right now).
I believe that if you go to Start > Execute... > type "explorer" (hit
enter).
You will get to Windows explorer. There, go to C:\Program Files\Inkscape
Or it could also be C:\Program Files(x86)\Inkscape.
In these folders there might be a uninstall.exe or uninstall.msi file.
Let me know if these instructions worked or if you need further guidance.
Merry Christmas to you and all Inkscape users worldwide!

Hi Friends,
I recently installed Inkscape 0.91, 32-bit, exe installer on a
brand new
Windows 7 Pro, 64-bit computer. However, it doesn't show up in Programs and
Features or the Start menu. So I can't figure out how to uninstall it.
I looked in the installation directory, because in some programs,
I've
seen an uninstall.exe file. But I don't find that in this case.
How can I uninstall this?
(Note that I recently was discussing about having multiple versions
installed, but that's on an old computer. This is happening on a new
computer,
where this is the only version I have installed. I do have a 7z version of
another version, but it's my understanding that the zip file programs are
not
technically installed.)
Thanks for your help,
brynn

selecting multiple mesh node/stops part 2
by brynn
Hi Friends,
Recently I posted a feature request, to be able to color multiple
gradient mesh nodes/stops at once, using the dropper tool. But now, I think I
might have found a bug.
If I drag a selection box around several nodes, I expect those to become
highlighted, and they do. If I drag around some different nodes, those also
become highlighted. However, the ones that were highlighted before are still
highlighted, instead of becoming deselected. It's as if I was holding the Shift
key, but I wasn't.
Windows 7 Pro, 64-bit, Inkscape 0.92pre3, 32-bit, exe installer. Need a
test tile or other files? Shall I make a bug report?
Or is this expected behavior, for some reason?
Thank you very much,
brynn

Pen/Bezier tool mode for 0.92
by brynn
Hi Friends,
This is in reference to this thread, from back in Oct 2016:
https://sourceforge.net/p/inkscape/mailman/message/35444910/
I'm on a different computer, so I can't reply to it.
I had reported that the Pen/Bezier tool was in BSplinePath mode by
default, in 0.92pre2. It was later discovered that was happening, because I
typically was using that tool in Straight Line mode, previously.
Now I'm using 0.92pre3, and I realize that the Pen/Bezier tool is in
BSplinePath mode every time I open Inkscape. I thought that once I changed it,
Inkscape would remember. But I have to re-set the mode every time I open
Inkscape.
Can this be fixed, short of deleting the entire prefs file?
Thank you very much,
brynn

help with intuos3
by Joanne Rancourt
First of all I would like to wish you all a happy and healthy new year.
I was wondering if any of you could help me with my wacom intuos3 tablet or let me know of a forum that could help me.
I have never used it on my laptop so thought I would try. I installed the latest driver, restarted my computer (windows 7) and then when I open properties I get a message that says a supported tablet is not found on system. If I open paint it seems to work as a simple mouse when I use the pen. What am I doing wrong ?
I know it is an old table but would really like to use it still. Any ideas ? or where I could ask ?
thanks, Joanne

guides not snapping to mesh nodes/stops (0.92pre3)
by brynn
Hi Friends,
I'm still testing the gradient mesh tool. I can snap the mesh
nodes/stops to a guide. But if I drag out a guide while using the mesh tool,
the guide won't snap to the nodes/stops. I'm not sure if the guide should be
expected to snap to the nodes/stops, but it seems reasonable to me.
Should I make a bug report? Or is there some explanation why it's not a
bug?
Thanks for your help,
brynn
