Setting Fill for a Self-Intersecting Path

Here's the deal. I have a bezzer curve that loops back on itself. Basically I drew the out line of a very curvy pipe. When I set the fill the areas that overlap are transparent. Any simple fixes for something like this? I think I could start pushing nodes around and join/cut them, but then I'd loose the outline for the stroke represent that part of this is in the foreground while the rest is behind it.

Bulleted lists in Inkscape? Hanging indents?

I want to create a bulleted list in an Inkscape document, along the lines of * the quick brown fox jumped over the lazy dog * lazy dog quick jumped over * the quick brown fox jumped over the lazy dog If I have to insert the bullet symbols by hand, that's OK (though not ideal) but is there any way to get the hanging indent on the paragraphs? (In case the layout of this post gets messed up, the list items items should just like the standard bulleted lists on an HTML page.) Thanks, Niall

Creating blood spatter.

Help! (problem with OS X 10.3.9)

I downloaded Inkscape, dragged it to my Apps. When I try to open Inkscape, X11 opens then nothing happens. It sits there forever. Anybody out there have any ideas?? a.l.

"Scale rounded corners" button doesn't work for clones?

Hi, I think the "Scale rounded corners" button doesn't work for clones. When I open the "tutorial-shapes.svg" (Inkscape: Shape tutorial) and select any rectangle with rounded corners I can turn off scaling of rounded corners by releasing the button "Scale rounded corners" (as explained in the tutorial). But when I create a clone of such a rounded rectangle, scaling of rounded corners is not turned off anymore for this cloned rectangle. Scaling is turned off again only if I unlink the clone. Is this behavior a bug? I would like to create a rectangle with rounded corners, clone it several times and rescale each cloned rectangle in different way but do not rescale rounded corners. White overlap in glyphs

Hi, I found that with some fonts, Inkscape fills parts of letters with white, not black. (With default colour settings.) For example, using the Summersby font: http://packages.debian.org/ttf-summersby I found that the letter X has a white bit where the two lines meet. It goes away if I convert it to paths, but sometimes I'd rather not do that. ----- Most fonts don't show this behaviour, but UnFonts (one of the major free software fonts for the Korean language) do. Could this be a bug? Would it be a bug with Inkscape or the fonts? Cheers, Kyungjoon Lee

Terrry, You can get the effect by separating your multi-point line to individual segments, then applying the pattern to path for each segment. It's not the most ideal solution, but it is a workable. I really like your idea of allowing for a single pattern along each segment. Even better... allow the user to specify the number of patterns per segment. This would definitely be a very useful option for the Pattern along Path effect! - Tony ----- Original Message ---- The new patterns along paths is way cool. But am I right in thinking that it won't do one thing that the old kochify effect did - put one copy of the 'pattern' along each internode of the path? OFFTOPIC: Graphic designers computer setup?

This is way offtopic, but I'm learning Gimp and Inkscape and planned on buying a desktop PC soon and then trying to get some work in graphic design - maybe in a printing company for starters. However, during this learning phase, I've noticed that my 750Mhz / 512MB Ram laptop is doing quite well under Ubuntu. Do any of you think it would be as practical to work on a laptop exclusively?
