Meshfill or gradientfill?

Hi Inkscapeuser, i wrote for a long time to bugdatabase, but any ideas whats happen with the meshfill like corel or gradientfill adobe? you know that was an easyway take a color on the right position on a vektor. How can i write to a dev to push such a funktion? thanks for answer Axel

Hi, I have been learning Inkscape for the past few weeks and finally getting comfortable with this excellent program. My problem began when I downloaded Inkscape 4.7. Where previously 4.6 worked OK with my Wacom intuos 3, now it does not work in the document screen. I have googled extensively and the couple of solutions I found did not help (different ways of resetting pen settings). Looks like this is a bug...I am a newbie and need all the help I can get! Node Tool/Settings in current svn

I'm not sure when this change appeared, but lastly I read something about preserving the shape when deleting a node and how this was used in old versions, but disabled for a moment for the new node tool, and then inserted back. Now I'm wondering why this isn't working as expected anymore: when deleting a node between two cusp nodes, currently it is also trying to maintain shape: if I have a square, convert it to a path and then delete one corner, I don't get a triangle anymore, but a triangle with a rounded hypotenuse. Another is more of a question: I have a tablet (Graphire4), and previously was able to insert a node in a path by simply double-clicking on it. This is still possible with the mouse, but not with the tablet, and I suspect that's because I'm not able to push on exactly the same spot and therefore it is not recognized as a double click... Is there any possibility to set the threshold for the clicking radius in order to have a click recognized as double click? -- cheers, Alex

(the new feature will be available in development test builds from this evening on) ===New LaTeX export for PDF/EPS/PS=== Similar to GNUPlot's `epslatex' output terminal, Inkscape can now export graphics to PDF with an accompanying LaTeX file that overlays the text over the PDF when inputted in LaTeX. The image's text is typeset by LaTeX, so for example mathematical expressions are rendered correctly, and all text will be in the font and style of the LaTeX document (even when changing the document's font afterwards). ''(the following description assumes export to PDF, but will work the same for EPS and PS)'' Two files will be created: a PDF file containing all graphics, without text; and a LaTeX file with the same name, containing all text, and code to include the PDF and overlay the text. SVG path, convert to absolute?

Hello, I need to convert SVG vector images with bezier paths from relative to absolute coordinates. So it uses big "C" instead of little "c" id="path3" d="M 47,200 C 47,200 27,140 47,120 I can do this using the GUI, but I'd like to do it via the command line. I'm using: inkscape -l drawing.sgv drawing.svg but there doesn't seem to be a command line option to specify relative or absolute paths coords? Any ideas how I might do this via the command line? Beginner question: How do I get rid of pie segment in ellipse

I have two objects, a circle and an ellipse, which together make a cartoonish human eye. But there is a black line from the center to the edge for both objects. I understand that this is a pie segment in the circle/ellipse. No matter how I move the little circles on the edge I can't get rid of this line. If I move too far the entire shape disappears. Move back a tiny increment and there is the line again. To put it another way, how do I create either shape without having any pie slice at all? Just a pure circle or ellipse. I have three books on Inkscape but none of them seem to cover this problem. I have this oddball behavior going on with copy/paste. I am running 0.47 on a mac with OS X Leopard. I have a path that I am trying to copy and do "paste in place". However, when I paste the path, what I am getting is an IMAGE, not a path, I can't edit it. It has a white background, which shouldn't be there, and it doesn't paste in place. It pastes off to the left of where it should be. I am wanting to paste it in place on a different layer, but even pasting it on the same layer creates an image, instead of a copy of the original path. How I determined that it was an image was to go into the XML editor and watched what happened when I did the paste. Sure enough, the XML editor states that the copy is an image, not a path. What is going on? Have I changed a setting somewhere by accident? Or is this a bug?

Open EPS with Gradient

Hi, i have problems with opening EPS files with gradient. The file isnt rendered correctly. AI-Files are working right. I tried to convert the eps file with Ghostscript directly (to png and pdf). This works too, so it should be a problem with inkscape. Still more update. I opened a new file. Used the box tool to make a box. Copied and pasted it. ...and got a nice .png file on my desktop again. Further update. I just discovered that all the "pastes" I have done in an attempt to figure out what is going on, have created .png image files on my desktop. This is NOT something I was attempting to do at all. How did they get there? suggestion for guide creator extension

Hi, I LOVE the guides creator extension, it's almost perfect for what I want to do ..... the only issue I'm having is that the file I need to make has 11 vertical stickers. Would it be possible to change the 'pull down' menu to a 'write in' field which I could change to however many I need? That would make it perfect! Thanks, Dale

Inkscape and automatic art

Hi, I found a website that lists a lot of very fine free software for art and design (http://www.libregraphicsworld.org/ ) and in that list I found one app that is wonderful... It's called contextfree (you can apt-get it!) and it's all command-line based. You write a small script kind of thing and then use the cfdg command to make a png -- and here's the coolth -- or an SVG! (http://www.contextfreeart.org/index.html) How would one go about interfacing this into Inkscape? I can see a really nice extension arising out of it; a little preview, a link to a text editor and a Render button. While you are here, there's another generator app that takes it into the 3rd dimension. This one is called 'structure-synth' (also apt-gettable). Imagine if that could also be brought into Inkscape! SVG Hyperlink

Hello, this is not a special inkscape question but maybe someone can help me anyhow. The following code snippet does not work in IE8. (http://www.selfsvg.info/content/listings/a_example.svg) An SVG element (black circle) is configured with a hyperlink. The link does not open when cklicking the svg element. I use the Adobe SVG plugin. It only works when using a frame structure and the target points to an existing frame. Updating/adding to the showcase...

Greetings, I created a graphic for the MakeHuman project and wondered if we can add it to the Show Case. The showcase is located here: http://www.inkscape.org/showcase/index.php?lang=en There is BRANDING, ICONS and such and perhaps we could add SUPPORTING OPEN SOURCE PROJECTS. I THINK the show case is part of the main site not the wiki or forum but I was not totally sure. If there is a way for me to edit the page myself let me know. The graphic was created using Inkscape with some screen captures edited in GIMP. Remote for jessyink presentations -- on a mac, anyway

Found something really cool! On a mac (at least on my 2007 model mac mini, anyway), the apple remote that comes with it can be used, in conjunction with a program called NeoRemote, (http://www.jfedor.org/neoremote/) ... to switch slides in jessyink. NeoRemote was intended to allow the apple remote to be used for slide transitions with NeoOffice presentations. (NeoOffice is a version of Open Office for the mac, but their presentations are kinda lame, no anti-aliasing) It remaps the remote buttons to emulate keyboard keys. There are other such programs for the apple remote, but NeoRemote is free. This works in Safari, Firefox, Opera, and Google Chrome. (As probably would be expected, but ya never know...)

Printing to Minolta 1350W problems

I have a Minolta 1350W PagePro printer and I am having problems printing different sized medium. I create a doc page size of 3.5"x5.5" and draw what I need to draw. Now the problem happens when I try to print. The Minolta feeds paper in the middle. I.e. there are two paper edge slides that meet in the middle. But, when printing, inkscape wants the to start printing at the far left. So, it entirely misses the card! Plus, the Minolta can not feed unless the card stock is placed in the center. The printing options have nothing to correct this. You can not even select standard paper size options that the ppd allows. Only paper thickness. So how do I get inkscape top print where the printer has the media, in the center? tj

Installing Inkscape on Scientific Linux

Hello Folks, As you know Scientific Linux is intended to be a more secure and stable version of RedHat. uname -a results in: Linux "systemname" 2.6.18-164.11.1.el5 #1 SMP Wed Jan 20 01:05:28 EST 2010 i686 i686 i386 GNU/Linux and the file: /etc/redhat-release gives: Scientific Linux SL release 5.4 (Boron) From an earlier attempts I learned to install glibmm. among other packages. This module was installed with the rpm-command: rpm -ivh glibmm24-2.8.12-1.i386.rpm warning: glibmm24-2.8.12-1.i386.rpm: Header V3 DSA signature: NOKEY, key ID Preparing... ########################################### [100%] 1:glibmm24 ########################################### [100%] So I-am somewhat confused that with installing Inkscape there is an error- message that package glibmm is not found, see below. Save by default in Documents (MacOS X 10.6)

Hi, I want to fix in our schools the default place to save in Inkscape. By default, it saves in home directory, i want to change it to Home directory/Documents. Even if i choose it one time, ween i relaunch Inkscape (0.4.7), the default place is always the same. An idea ? Many thanks in advance Christian
