Hi, I'm looking for a second person to staff the Inkscape booth in Kiel at Kieler Open Source und Linux Tage on September 20th and 21st this year. As I'm also presenting at and co-organizing the event, it would be really good if there were someone else who can help, even if only for a few hours. You don't need to be an expert in Inkscape, but you should bring some motivation and enthusiasm for the program and its capabilities. Inkscape not "High DPI Aware"

I've just installed Inkscape for the first time (on Windows 10) and discovered the toolbars and buttons are so tiny they're unrecognizable and unusable. This is due to Inkscape not being "High DPI Aware" (see https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/desktop/hidpi/high-dpi-desktop-app…). The temporary solution is to right click the Inkscape icon, choose the "Properties" context menu item, then choose the "Compatibility" tab. Click on "Change High DPI Settings" and in the group box "High DPI scaling override" check the check box "Override high DPI scaling behavior." In the drop list select "System (Enhanced)". Click the "OK" button. Now relaunch Inkscape and the compatibility mode will take effect. Not sure how to file a bug on here but perhaps one of the developers can?

High DPI Export From Inkscape

Hello, Can someone tell me what the maximum image DPI is from Inkscape version 0.92.4? I have been able to export at 1,200 DPI, but can't at 3,000. Well, it eventually will, however, the image colors are way off. Some history on this problem. I have a web graphic I'm trying to turn into a 10ftx3ft banner. Graphic was created in Inkscape as an SVG file. Ideally, they'd like 300dpi to print this banner. This has worked in the past, however, my computer was updated to Mac OS Mojave and the latest version of Inkscape won't export correctly at the 3,000 DPI. This worked on the version of Inkscape I had installed on Mac OSX 10.11, sorry, I don't know what that version was. Probably 0.91 Basic question, is how to export high DPI images. Seems to have an issue with applied filters. Current image is 10 inches x 3 inches to obtain the correct effect from the filters. Thank You *David Paul* *P.S. Launch Ikscape with default theme

Hi! I still making an Inkscape course documentation and I need to do some screenshots. I want the screenshots be as Inkscape default appearance, but I can't do that cause my desktop (Debian GNU/Linux + XFCE) is configured with an icon theme. This theme. So, when I launch Inkscape it looks great with these nice icons, but it is not a good idea to teach newbies using Inkscape screenshots that does not looks like his running inkscapes. How I can start Inkscape ignoring my environment icon theme. Thanks a lot!

Maybe one of the many tutorials about hackfests, or some googling around for articles would be better. Podcasts are mostly freeform Q&A, and can be 30minutes to many hours. They are a good platform to discuss things on-camera with little editing needed. The idea is that since we don't have time for a documentary, let's just talk with eachother on camera and see where it goes. Podcasts let you listen in on a regular unscripted conversation with people in the project on particular topics. They are a great community building tool because unlike a documentary or tutorial, you get to know what people in the project are like. You get to be in on those jokes, and the more you watch, the more you feel like part of the community. It's not a format for 50-words or less people. Missing shared library when running Inkscape alpha (Snap)

Hi, I couldn’t launch Snap version of Inkscape, and when I tried launching from CLI, I got this: $ snap run inkscape inkscape: error while loading shared libraries: libdouble-conversion.so.1: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory Any way I could work around this, or should I downgrade to 0.92.4? Set font for whole file without losing other formatting (in SVG?)

It seems I cannot change the font family globally in all text objects in the GUI using the font dialog. It also seems that when I change the font family for an individual object through the font dialog subscript and size formatting for parts of the text is lost. Thus I'm looking to change the font by editing the SVG produced by Inkscape in a text editor, but that seems to be more complicated than I expected. Upon inspecting the SVG produced by Inkscape I see that each `<text>` *and* `<tspan>` element has a `style` attribute with comprehensive font style info --- essentially all the font formatting properties. This seems a bit wasteful since I use the same font at the same size throughout the drawing, only adding the occasional bold weight and some subscripts here and there. It may make little difference given the (many) paths in the drawing, but is there any way to set things up so that most font properties are inherited from/set once in as high a node as possible? I'm looking to change the font face used and changing it by search&replace in lots of places --- the font name appears twice in each `<text>` or `<tspan>` `style` attribute! --- seems like a heavy-handed way to do it. /bpj

How to know viewbox parameters on save

Trying to figure out whether there is a deterministic way to save an optimized SVG such that we can match the viewbox parameters perfectly with the containing HTML elements width and height parameters. For example if we have a div element like this: <div style="width: 100px; height:100px"> <svg> ...</svg></div> How do we save an SVG so that it gets a viewbox that will fit perfectly inside the div when we inline it as shown above? Repairing a pixellated drop-shadow gradient

I have inherited a vector PDF and an SVG file of a logo made from outlined letters with a gradated drop-shadow (see http://xml.silmaril.ie/downloads/letterlogo.png for enlarged PNG fragment). When the logo is enlarged (eg for use on a poster), the drop-shadow shows up pixellated. Both files exhibit the identical problem. When edited, the drop-shadow is indeed made up of pixels. I assume in my ignorance that it was passed through some software at some stage in its past which concretized the drop-shadow as graded pixels. How would I go about removing the drop-shadow entirely, and replacing it with one of identical color and extent, but done in such a way as to withstand enlargement without deterioration? Peter
