3D image using Inkscape

I want to draw 3D objects efficiently. Do you have any idea how to draw the icons of men shown in the image http://androidheadlines.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/01/Social1.jpg ? Do you think they drew them one by one from the path with shadows? Or they can draw them using "Motion" functionality of Inkscape? soichi

Hi to all. The branch BSpline is on. https://code.launchpad.net/~jabiertxof/inkscape/BSpline It has the SpiroLive code refactored and the new code BSpline. It has a new button near spiro, It work in pen and pencil mode. For developers: I have a problem in code commented in bspline function. Please anybody can fix? This code is for use continuing existing curves in CUSP node. I lost my terribol history of this proyect in bzr because i kill the "bzr merge" command and it corrupt a file in the branch. Inkscape 0.48.4 Release

It is pretty cool to be announcing the 0.48.4 release of Inkscape. It's a great bug fix release, which will hopefully tide people over until the upcoming 0.49. There are a ton of bug fixes in this release including one security fix, so it is recommended that everyone currently using 0.48.3 or older upgrade tho this release. As per custom please avoid announcing this widely until platform packagers have a chance to make binaries for people to download. By just looking at the bugs you can see the wide variety of contributors: https://launchpad.net/inkscape/0.48.x/0.48.4 Pick one (I'll do two) as always thinks go to ScislaC for herding and ~suv for ensuring that the bugs stay in good shape and land on the release branch. Help needed and website redesign update

All, Sorry for the lag in updates regarding the site. It has been a bit depressing and I also have been extremely busy. In all honesty we had a great design and some extremely motivated people who started the project of redoing the website. As with all open source projects time and experience got the best of us (myself included). The website design was completed long ago and it looks great. It can be seen here http://en.dev.inkscape.org/ . We started the migration portion and that's about as far as we got. We had one backend mostly complete when we realized that that dev was unable to complete the project without a rewrite and sadly lacked the time due to school commitments etc. Next we had a second developer start rewriting the code and unfortunately due to time constraints is unable to finish. That being said I am open to suggestions but we need a strict time line to at least complete the basic portion of the inkscape site. That being said, We need help. The project was started both times in django, however was never completed. I also may even be open for consideration of Content management systems that would allow us to build in these features fairly easily and allow the site to contain the same functionality and UI. If you have any talent in the web development world. Please get back to me and lets get the ball rolling! I know the holiday's can sometimes allow time to tinker but they also can be difficult times as well. Please feel free to make suggestions on how you're able to help us complete the website redesign. Relative Paths

Hi all, First time posting on the Inkscape mailing lists, so I hope this is the right place for a small feature discussion. I've been trying to move around .svg files created with Inkscape, only to find out that paths are by default absolute when linking external images. Manually editing the XML files or using the image property window works, sure, but it's tedious if you have a lot of images. It seems to me that Inkscape *should* understand that I'm trying to link files from the exact same directory as the .svg file, and automatically use relative paths. I've found a wiki page about this and more (http://wiki.inkscape.org/wiki/index.php/Image_links_manager), as well as somebody else with the same issues (https://answers.launchpad.net/inkscape/+question/77201) since 2009, and I wondered : what is the status on that feature? Now, this is slightly above the "inkscape user" level, but if nobody's working on it and you don't mind me trying, I can submit a patch in a few days for the "automatically use relative paths" feature, at the very least. More intuitive circles

Dear Inkers, I'm wondering if tere is a more intuitive way to draw a perfect round circle and center it at t point where i start drawing it. now when i make a circle then it's edge is where i start to draw, then it becomes an oval, i need to resize, then replace it, siee if it is centered since the auto centering tool doesn't really snap right. Every time i draw a circle i would expect that- When i start to draw, thats the center point. Where i stop, is the edge. ...and that should be all Klik drag klik a circle at the exact spot where i wanted it, and at the exact size, and NOT an oval.. Is there something i'm not aware of? Or a config setting to get a more intuitive behaviour for this? Kind Regards, Mano
