Hi all, I've read that, when making an HTML page with a clickable map (a map of the states in America, for instance), it's very doable in SVG. Has anybody done this? If so, did you need to copy and paste the svg code into the HTML, or were you able to work from an image imported with the <img src="mymap.svg"/> tag? Did you need to do something to tell the CSS in your HTML doc's head that you meant #rect1234 in the <css> tree? Does anyone know of a document that unambiguously tells exactly how to do it? Leaflet does a fairly good job of showing a map which can be constructed from svg paths, you can choose to have open street map tiles or not. Snap Version 0.92.1, Extensions: ImportError: no module named site

Hi, first let me say that this new effect "Perspective/Envelope" is totally awesome. I was waiting for this for a very long time! But with the latest snap installation, i am having trouble to run extensions. No matter if i try to run my own extension or the already included extensions, when i hit the "Apply" Button i get the message: "Inkscape has received additional data from the script executed. The script did not return an error, but this may indicate the results will not be as expected. ImportError: No module named site" I guess that some paths don't point at the right location, e.g., the path to site.py. Maybe something is messed up with the snap and standard file locations? Is there a way to figure out, if my guess is right? Then where to change settings for the extensions to work again? (I am running ubuntu 16.10.)

Changing default units to px?

Hi everyone, is there a way to change the default units (for measurements, stroke widths. etc) permanently? I want to use px but need to change the setting with every new document. Best, Christoph

open file into existing instance from terminal?

Hi, is there a way to send an existing inkscape instance a file-open message (with the document name as argument) from a terminal or another process? It seems, the dbus interface would be the way to go but the API documentation only mentions a command to open a new document (which works BTW). I'm on linux and inkscape is bzr-inkscape 0.91 -- Orm

2 entries for 1 object in XML Editor

Hi Friends, I was just using the XML Editor to try and help someone in a forum. Completely unrelated to their problem, I noticed that 2 entries are being created for each object, in the XML. I've never noticed that before. Have I inadvertently changed some option that might be causing this? Because wouldn't this kind of behavior result in file size that's double what it's supposed to be? Just making up a test file, in case anyone wants it. And doing that, I noticed that it's only happening if the Fill and Stroke dialog is open. After closing the F/S dialog however, it's still happening. Wow, and sometimes adding 3 or 4 entries for each object! But if F/S dialog is not open when the file is opened, it doesn't happen. At first I thought this was something I did wrong. But with F/S dialog being involved, now I wonder if it's a bug? I searched in LP and didn't find anything similar. But there's a good chance any existing report uses terminology that I don't understand or recognize. Windows 7 Pro, 64-bit, Inkscape 0.92.1, 64-bit, exe installer. I can test in 0.92pre3, 64-bit, 7z version and 0.91, 32-bit, 7z version, if it would be helpful. What else can I give you, if necessary? Hhmm, another new file doesn't show this. Curious. Ruler LPE improper behavior after doc unit change

Hi Friends, This is coming from a report on Inkscape Community forum: https://forum.inkscapecommunity.com/index.php?topic=567.0 Even though the member marked it fixed, I'm not sure the fix was really an appropriate fix. Short version The user couldn't get the Ruler LPE to work properly. In the topic, you can see screenshots from the user's file and also when I tested using their file. Their SVG file is also attached, in case someone wants to test. But here's link for convenience: https://forum.inkscapecommunity.com/index.php?action=dlattach;topic=567.0;a… The user was able to make the LPE function properly by changing the Scale factor to 1.0. However, I suspect that will result in some other unwanted change (either a different page size than is set, or a DPI different from 96....or something?). At first, I was confused, and I thought there might be a problem with the scale factor, because I thought a new doc should start with scale factor = 1.0. But now the user reports that it did originally start with mm units and scale factor 1.0. When they changed to px, Inkscape correctly changed the scale factor. So now, I think that points to the LPE not liking the unit change very much. Could someone who understands this better than me, have a look at that please? Does there need to be a bug report? Completely disable snap to cusp

Hello all, I am attempting to do precise vector modification and I keep getting "snap to cusp" sort of thing happening which is *not* what I want. How do I completely disable this? I seem to recall trying to figure this out a long time ago and not being successful, and it's super irritating :) I can see where I can change the snap delay but that's not adequate. I would prefer if it was a checkbox to enable/disable snapping? I am comfortable with editing a preferences file in the CLI if necessary. Thanks, Chris
