Mac OS X install problems

Hi, I'm new to the list, and have been trying to install Inkscape on mac os x.3 running fink, gnome, and Xtools for 2 days now (unsuccesfully) using both the 'top-down' (fink install -y inkscape) and 'bottom-up' (dl the .gz file and attempting to compile it that way) approach. The error I get from using fink is: fink install -y inkscape /usr/bin/sudo /sw/bin/fink install -y inkscape Password: Information about 1501 packages read in 2 seconds. Failed: no package found for specification '-y'! And when compiling from the source (doing a './configure' command) it stops at this error message: configure: error: You have to install pkg-config to compile inkscape. Not quite sure how to proceed, any comments/suggestions would be helpful, Tim timjaeger@...85...

Thanks to Kees and Bulia (and micelf) and others, we have almost put in place all current menu icons. We need however 3 more. After these are completed, then we can move on to replacing XPM icons in the interface. Hello all, Well, the wiki for the new open clipart project has been activated. Please spend some time looking over the content, and adding your own. Instructions for getting account access for the wiki are at the URL below. Anyone interested in the project should head on over to the site and get added to the mailing list. http://freedesktop.org/Software/clipart or http://clipart.freedesktop.org/ This project is at an early stage, but the Open Office.org (OO.o) development community and various SVG editor camps are merging together (basically) to create this project. OO.o has 20-30 million users! If you are into this type of project and/or want to get in on the ground floor and help shape the future, then you should jump in now... saving an objects moved center of rotation

first off, just found inkscape, its great! I can move an object's center of rotation, but it immediately switches back to the default. I'd like to set it permenantly. Is there any way? Thanks! daniel

Pre-announce: Release 0.38

Hi guys, We've not formally announced it yet, but if you'd like an early look, the Inkscape 0.38 release is official. All we're waiting on before the formal announce is to create the RPM's, EXE's, etc. If you're comfortable installing from source, the official tarball is now available for download. If not, keep your eyes on the download page for newly minted packages, and help us test 'em out. Also, we're welcoming new screenshots for this release, so if you've got something cool to show off using some of the new features, post a screenshot and we'll get it up on the site! Hi, Wanted to thank Bryce for turning me onto the Ishmal's index of updated functioning Inkscape progs. I have a few questions and maybe a bug report.. I tried to save the SVG's as either Inkscape or regular SVG's and regardless of which I click on all Mozilla does is load up endless browser windows with nothing to show. I think when I finally killed Mozilla I had about 50 instances of it and it was going to continue. Irfanview can't open them up either "unknown file format" is all it tells me. Draw12 opens it but it's flawed and RealDraw-Pro 3 opens it up but all color and fill effects and alpha is all gone. Just a bunch of gray squares! So is the save SVG not quite there yet or is there some thing that I'm not doing right?? Any way to Align objects, like center them?? Besides building in alpha are there plans to create transparency effects seperate from the color fills?? Many thanks!! Keep on cookin'!! Also, I think we should look at in this next release cycle the big picture of upcoming releases, evaluate other similar apps and think about what is necessary in our app (which is picking up serious steam). I will try and spend an afternoon evaluating and moving ideas from the feature proposals and scratchpad to RFEs... Thoughts? The last big patch (thanks Adib!) is in, and we're in deep freeze intending to release in the coming days. Please everyone try to do as much testing, tweaking, abusing Inkscape as possible.
