Help Wanted: Testing Autopackages

The quality of the Autopackage builds could be greatly increased with more consistent testing. There is a need for volunteers running various distros (Slackware, Suse, Mandrake, Fedora, Debian) and various versions of these distros to work with the autopackager to ensure compatibility throughout the release cycle. This work involves regular downloading and installing of inkscape autopackages (about 10MB), submitting detailed bug reports to the autopackager and testing fixes as they are prepared. separate traced objects

Hallo, I made some designs like this one: http://hagoschaos.de/test/ _W-NJ-07.jpg_ They are A4 or larger. I scanned or fotografed them with high resolution. Now I have PNGs with 300dpi. The one that you can see, is the smallest and simplest. What I'd like to achieve is, to have every little part of the design as a separate object in inkscape. I already imported the files into inkscape and traced them - it gives a good result. But I can't separate the single parts. Is there a way inside inkscape? (I found a way separate the parts it in gimp and trace them separately, but that's a huge lot of stupid work) Regards, Hago

Can someone tell me where I might find some better documentation on Flow INTO FRAME

I am looking for better documentation on Flow into frame, I am looking to flow text into a shape, where the text follows the contours of the outside of the shape. Can anyone help with pointing me to where some good documentation on this may be available. kerning possible in Inkscape?

Can one do kerning on text in Inkscape? Or is there any other way to get a few lines of type justified on both left and right sides? Thanks

Zooming and shortcuts

Hi guys, My zooming numerical shorcuts don't work on my Linux (Novell Desktop Linux 10) 0.44.1 version. The only which works is 5. Others don't do anything, but using the palette icons do work. I have a french keyboard, maybe that's t related? Any hint? Best way to change color scheme on drawing?

Hi folks, Maybe doing this through the XML file is the best way to do it, but I was wondering if there was a better way than that. What I want to do is take an existing (fairly complex) image originally defined as EPS, but then create a new color palette for it so I can use it in a different way (it's using shades of blue now; I want shades of yellow/orange). NEW: Trace Bitmap dialog redesign and new parameters

* This dialog now provides access to three more tracing parameters: o Suppress speckles: If set, spots or speckles larger than the given size are suppressed in the trace. o Smooth corners: This parameter controls how much smoothing is applied to corners in the traced path. o Optimize paths: If set, trace paths are optimized by joining adjacent Bezier segments with the given tolerance. * The dialog is redesigned to use three tabs: Mode, Parameters, and Preview. The controls are reorganized to be easier to find. Most labels and tooltips are rewritten for clarity. * The trace preview image is made twice larger. -- bulia byak Inkscape. NEW: file name entry field finally fixed

* We removed the "hacked" filename entry field that we had added to the Open and Save dialogs because starting from version 2.10, GTK+ has finally restored this field in their standard file dialog (better late than never!). The standard field at the top of the dialog supports type-ahead find and performs the default dialog action (open or save) by pressing Enter, which means you can now do a quick Ctrl+O, Ctrl+V, Enter sequence to open the file whose path is in your clipboard (this closes a long-standing usability bug). Those who use older versions of GTK are advised either to upgrade to 2.10 or use Ctrl+L to open a pop-up filename box. (Our Windows builds are shipped with GTK+ 2.10.) -- bulia byak Inkscape.
