menuproblem 0.44pre...
by Hago Ziegler
Hi,
I have -for some time now- a problem with 4 menus in Inkscape 0.44pre...
First I thought it might be a state of the work.
Now I want to make sure, that the problem is known
You can see it here: http://hagoschaos.de/test/test.html
It's explaining itself, I think.
I'm running WinXP and I'm using the "Daily Inkscape Win32 Build Snapshots"

Printing revisited.
by Thetargos
Recently we had a discussion in the Fedora Marketing mailing list about
color management and accuracy in Inkscape, and this discussion touched
several topics like the lack of true CMYK support, not Inkscape's fault, but
the format's; and other color accuracy topics including color profiling with
ICC and other stuff. By looking at the SVG site over at the
www.w3c.orgsite, I noticed there was a proposed spec for SVG for
printing, which would
be called SVGP, and if I understood correctly it would be a subset of SVG
1.2 spec with some additional features with printed media specifically in
mind. My questions to the list, actually is if this is going to be supported
by Inkscape, and if the developers know a time frame when we could expect to
have the first implementation of the spec?
In the mean time, what method do you recommend for producing printed
material off Inkscape's designs? Being that currently there is no conversion
table or color management with ICC (or not that I am aware of) and the issue
of color accuracy, which is a major problem for a lot of people. Some one
over the mailing list proposed EPS and PDF, but if further manipulation is
required, how can these formats be easily manipulated? Unless you had the
original SVG that originated these other files it would be impossible...
Anyhow, how are people making printed materials with Inkscape doing it?
Thanks in advance!

perl interface
by Axel Huizinga
Hi!
Can anybody give me an example how to access objects in an
open document via the perl interface?
Is it possible to get the bounding boxes?
Cordially,

However I could not compile the tarball itself I need to checkout the
tag from SVN. There are some cxx tests missing.
I will dig into next week and report in detail.

0.44: Shift+middle button drag pans, does not zoom in
by Jean-François Lemaire
Hello,
I see in the release notes for Inkscape 0.44 that Shift+middle button
drag should zoom into the canvas, but here it does exactly the same as
middle button drag: panning.
And yes, both my Shift keys are working fine :-)

Aaron just does the official tarball; other packagers will hopefully
supply binaries for the other systems.

This reminds me of an idea that could be recycled: Electronic circuits as
blocks. Fit all of your compenents to the same sized invisable square. Draw
the connections to the midpoint of the sides of the squares. Then when
compenents are placed against each other, they connect.
Of course, this is only suitable for simple circuits, but it would be
possible for a program to analyze the SVG file and interpret the circuit,
possibly even generating Javascript for a suitable viewer to simulate the
the operation.
