Type1 Fonts on Windows XP

How do I configure Inkscape for Windows to see the Type1 fonts I have installed? The GIMP sees them fine (which also uses freetype), as does OpenOffice.org. The font names and corresponding pfb file names even show up in my .fonts.cache-1 file but I still can't see them in Inkscape. Thanks for any answers. Inkscape Project Status

Just to give some visibility into some of the work bubbling away these days: Cairo renderer: Bulia has taken point on investigation of conversion to Cairo. Some tough problems have been uncovered but we're gaining a clearer picture of what needs done. Presently this looks like it will require an all at once brute force approach, rather than incremental refactoring. If so, we'll need to reach a decision on how to undertake that while minimizing disruption to SVN HEAD users. Build system: There is definitely a concensus that our current build system sucks. Options include CMAKE, Bob's buildtool, or just a cleaned up automake. We really need to have interested parties mind meld and find a single solution. Version control system: Mental has been experimenting with git and trying to get it to operate with svn. This study is still very early on, but if it works out well, one day we may begin encouraging developers to use git. Bug tracking: I have been experimenting with use of Mantis with the goal of replacing our SF bug tracker. It looks good, but the principle issue is how to migrate the bugs and their history from SF to Mantis. I'm also interested in seeing if it can be combined well with Drupal, maybe along with Pootle. Any drupalheads out there? Manual: We've got a good unofficial non-free manual/book and several [semi-]official incomplete free manuals. There is discussion about if efforts can be combined to produce a good official free manual. Anyway, I've probably missed something, but I think that covers the pending changes that are percolating. Most of these would benefit from discussion, so we can make sure there is a rough concensus favoring the change - so if you have concerns about any of these changes, now's a good chance to bring 'em up. Hiding/showing layers via command line?

Hi, Is there any way to hide and show layers in a Inkscape document with command line arguments before saving? I have an image that has buttons for a webpage, and on different layers there are the normal, selected and rollover versions of the buttons. I have a nice script to automatically output the buttons with command line options, but right now I have to go into the GUI, select the different layers, and run my script. It's not that much work, but I thought it would be neato if I could do all this from the command line. thank you, sness.

Include article on a magazine (some months old)

I had been very busy and I forgot to say that in the OLD number 19 of Spanish version of Linux Magazine I wrote about Inkscape 0.44. I wrote about the new (on inkscape 0.44) features and some inkscape's examples logotypes made by me and Included an Illustration from Andy Fitzimon at the header of the first page (He gave me permission). how to including a form in a clone set

How can i link a form to a clone set? If I want to unlink somethink I just go ctrl+alt+D (windows XP) Can go back from there relinking it? - how can i include a new form in the clone set? (I know i did once but I don't know how did I get there) basically I was modifying a set of clones through the main form, suddenly i decide to make a star on top of the clone master and the star was in all the clones as well and whatever i drew I could get the same in all clones. unfortunately I lost that file and I do not know how I did activate such a function. thanks kirk --------------------------------- L'email della prossima generazione? Un-uninstallation?

Inkscape by default saves stuff in the /inkscape dir. When I installed .45 it obliterated (I assumed it would leave whatever files were there) all of my work in the Inkscape Dir when it unistalled .44!! Is there -any- way to undo this? I may have to go into a period of grieving, here. (Lost about 15-20 fairly complex svgs and pngs.) Penrose tiling with different-coloured strokes

NEW: smoother panning and scrolling

Several improvements make canvas panning and scrolling smoother and more interactive in complex slow-rendering documents: * When panning by the middle mouse button, Inkscape no longer attempts to redraw the canvas while your mouse button is pressed. Any redrawing only happens after you release the mouse. As a result, the newly revealed parts of the canvas are somewhat more "dirty" but the panning is smoother than before, with few if any "hiccups". * Previously, if you start panning with middle button while Inkscape is still redrawing screen in a complex drawing, panning sometimes completely failed or moved canvas just a little step. Now it is guaranteed to pan the canvas all the way from mouse-press point to mouse-release point in any case, even if sometimes it fails to show the intermediate positions. * When pressing and holding Ctrl+arrows to scroll canvas, Inkscape normally accelerates scrolling so that each next scrolling step is bigger than the previous. Previously, in complex drawings this acceleration sometimes got interrupted, which made scrolling annoyingly bumpy and slow. Now this is fixed so that scrolling is smoothly accelerated even in a slow-rendering document. * The default starting speed and acceleration of Ctrl+arrows scrolling are slightly increased.
