Hopefully, this time will work. I don't understand why the yahoo mail program deletes those lines. As far as I know Inkscape currently rasterizes linked SVGs before placing them, which might explain the trouble you are having. There is a bug report requesting better support for linked SVGs at https://bugs.launchpad.net/inkscape/+bug/171795 . "behind fill" for outlines?

Hello all. There is a nice feature in Corel Draw, that I'd like to ask if it could be included in Inkscape. Or if already is there, please point me out how to use it. In CD, it is called "behind fill", and it is an option for outlines. You see, the outline "grows" both to the outside and to the inside of the given object. With "behind fill" turned on, we can only see the outside part of the outline, as if it were placed behind the object. One workaround for this is to duplicate the object, apply an outline, and put it behind the other object (without outline). Export/save custom shapes

Hello, This is probably a dumb question, but I couldn't find anything on google. I am always making the same shapes and copying them from an old drawing to a new one, etc. I would like to export each of my custom shapes into an individual inkscape svg file, and be able to use them when making new drawings. How can I do this? I tried putting just one shape in a new drawing and saving it, but it saves the whole drawing, I just want the shape. Thank you, Gabriel PS Does anyone also know how to create a sort of palette that contain all my shapes (if I can find a way to export them of course) so I can just click on one to add it without having to open them through the open dialog?

Inkscape textures

I've got an external texture made in the GIMP to be seamless. I import it into Inkscape and use it as a pattern. When I scale the object, but keep the pattern the same size, I sometimes notice at certain zooms or when scrolled to certain positions border lines, as if the pattern is not scaling uniformly or if there is some minor precision error where you can see a very fine border at some areas. This is not around all instances of the pattern in the object, but sometimes, just a single line in the middle of the object. Brian Vanderburg II

How to use path effects

I'm still using 0801181659 snapshot and I'm using the live path effects. Where have the settings for the path effects been moved to? I add an affect (test all three), but the options/pattern paste button/etc is no longer there, just a 'Remove' button. Is there some menu command to open the path effect settings for the specific effect (path along path in this case)? Brian Vanderburg II

Could someone tell me if inkscape has these features or if they are on a road map. If they are not on the road map maybe someone could enlighten me as to why they are not. Here is my list ... 1. A layer pallet with the following functionality. Here is a basic screen shot of how it might look: http://codebot.org/inkscape/layers.gif The explanation: Add a layer pallet. The pallet should allow you to visually see each layer with thumbnail previews of each layer, element, and group. The pallet should allow you to create and delete layers as well as group and ungroup items. It should allow you to change item visibility and perhaps item opacity. You should be able to drag items in the pallet to reorder them. You should also be able to optionally change the names for items if you so choose. 2. True docking windows for color mixer, fill and stroke, and layer pallet, The explanation: Allow more windows to be docked to the right/left/bottom side of the main window. Remember the docked layout between inkscape sessions and provide the ability to dock or undock those windows.

Inkscape filter effects causing crash

I'm using XP SP2 Inkscape 20080118 snapshop. When creating a filter effect for an object and connecting the filter to the fill color, activating the effect on the object causes Inkscape to close. I can connect the effect to the source graphic, but not the fill. The problem may also exist in other places of the filter effects. I sent this to both the user and dev lists because the last time I sent something to the dev list it didn't make it and I got a reply of some problem. It should make it to one of them.
