Re: [Inkscape-user] OT Tablet for use with Inkscape?-Thanks
by Guillermo Espertino
My wife is using a Genius Pensketch 12x9 tablet with inkscape and gimp.
It's far more affordable than a wacom with similar specifications
(resolution, pressure levels, etc).
It only lacks the tilt function and the eraser in the pen, but if you're
looking for a large tablet for a fraction of the price of a Wacom, imo
this is a great choice.
It works under linux (not out of the box, but there is a step-by-step
tutorial in Ubuntu Forums).
You can see what she's doing with that tablet in
www.flickr.com/photos/superdd
Oh, and btw, someone asked about Cintiq support under linux. Jimmac just
bought one and got it to work under linux without problems (there's an
installing guide in his blog).
Those things are great, but wow, they aren't cheap. :-)

clean up SVG
by Alexander Roalter
every time I create an object and move it around, the XML code in the
SVG file has somethink like:
<path
style="opacity:1.0000000;fill:#f9f010;fill-opacity:1.0000000;fill-rule:nonzero;stroke:#000000;stroke-width:1.0000000;stroke-linecap:butt;stroke-linejoin:miter;stroke-miterlimit:4.0000000;stroke-dasharray:none;stroke-dashoffset:6.9999999;stroke-opacity:1.0000000"
id="path2113"
d="M 307.26816,268.95933 L 329.04654,320.12941 L

transform="translate(-4.768158,-0.350677)" />
how is it possible to appy the translation once and for all to the
coordinates given in d="...", instead of having them calculated by every
SVG viewer again? when creating an object near the final position, every
time I use the align function I get such a transform="..." in the file,
instead of changing the points directly.

Apart from the slight problem in your post, I guess you could be talking
about the Can of soup tutorial on Tavmjong's Bah userguide... if so,
he's the fellow who can give you the best answer.

Re: [Inkscape-user] No Inkscape window in MacOS 10.5.2
by Oscar Moreno
Dear Jeremy,
I do not know why Inkscape builds a font cache. The user JiHO in the
Inkscape-users list is the one who recommended to wait for Inkscape to
build the font cache.
Thanks for the message.
Regards, Oscar

No Inkscape window in MacOS 10.5.2
by Oscar Moreno
I have installed Inkscape-0.45.1-2-UNIVERSAL into Mac OS 10.5.2 with
Xquartz 2.1.3. I can NOT get the menu bar or the window. I only get
the part of the menu bar that reads "inkscape." Has anyone seen this
behavior? Can someone give me direction on how to troubleshoot my
installation?
PowerMac G5 with 1.5 Gb of memory.
TIA

Save As EPS Brings up Printer Interface
by Mark Lucas
Hi,
I've been poking around the site and can't find anything regarding the
following oddity. When I moved to Fedora 8 and installed inkscape, I
found that whenever I try to save as an eps file, the printer window
would come up. This does not happen under windows and has not happened
to me before under FC4.
Has anyone else found this issue? I'm presuming I'm missing a package
somewhere or there is a misconfiguration. Does anyone have any
suggestions?
Thanks,
Mark Lucas
