1. Try printing as bitmap. In the print dialogue, select Rendering ->
Bitmap. This is a workaround most printing problems.
2. ?? I think it should be to scale. Size the page the same as your paper
and view on 100%.

4. See the preferences under the File menu.
Someone else may know more...

what is the significance of the 'inkscape:original-d' attribute, I mean what
action causes it to be present? I'm finding that when it is present, then it
is no longer possible to edit the d attribute as one normally would in the
XML editor, see https://bugs.launchpad.net/inkscape/+bug/223986 .
Is it possible to remove the 'inkscape:original-d' attribute, once it is
present?
