raster crop extension, live preview issue
by Brynn
Hi Friends,
Posting here first, to avoid possible duplicate report. I searched,
didn't find anything, but it could still already be reported.
Extensions menu > Raster > Crop is WAY convenient, and thank you
very much for providing it! But the live preview possibly has an problem.
When I enter a number in the first field (whichever field, it
doesn't matter) the live preview shows it. No problem there. But when I
put the 2nd new number in any field, the image shifts itself. Generally it
shifts up and/or to the right, if I put a higher number; and it shifts down
if I put a lower number (than what's already in the box). And every time I
change the number value in a field, the image shifts itself one way or
another. The greater the number change, the further it shifts.
After a handful of positive changes, the image is moving out of the
visible part of the canvas at the top.
As a way to help in deciding where to crop, I had initially drawn a
rectangle, thinking maybe the extension would use it (I noticed this new
extension the other day, but this is the first time I've tried to use it).
So when the image starts shifting, it's moving away from the rectangle that
I was using as a guide.
If I uncheck Live Preview, and re-check it, the image goes back
where it started.
It seems to only happen when I highlight the existing number, and
type in new ones, into the fields. If I use the spinboxes, the image stays
put. If I position the cursor, and backspace and then type new numbers, the
image stays put. Only happens when I highlight numbers and type over them.
Inkscape 0.91, 32-bit, exe installer, Windows 7, 64-bit. Let me
know if I can provide any further info.
Thanks :-)

Beginner
by Joanne Rancourt
I used inkscape in the past but have not used it for a while and need some refresher lessons. I want to make a simple watermark with a design and my name and save as a transparent image. I need it in a few different sizes. Are there any beginner tutorials you would recommend ?
thank you,Joanne

empty text boxes
by Brynn
Hi Friends,
I'll explain the problem here, before posting on LP. If it already
exists, maybe someone can tell me, before I make a duplicate report. (I
don't have very good luck searching on LP :-( )
I've been working on a series of Inkscape tutorials, using Inkscape
to write the tutorials. So I'm using the Text tool a lot, making regular
text....at least *on purpose* making regular text. But it seems I've made a
lot of empty flowed text boxes by accident, which are selectable, even
though they don't contain any text.
I'm pretty sure it's happening when I try to highlight selected text
and I don't have the mouse in precisely the correct position. And instead
of highlighting text, I've dragged a tiny text box. But I assumed if I
didn't type in it, and left the text box empty, it would not exist as an
object.
When selected via the Tab key, there is no bounding box or scaling
handles. But there is identification on the status bar. I can't seem to
select by dragging a selection box. But Ctrl A has same behavior --
identification on status bar, but no bounding box on the canvas.
I'm not sure what use it is to have empty text boxes. Is this a
bug? Or if it's intended, would it be reasonable as a feature request to
have the option for empty text boxes not to be retained as objects?
Thanks for enlightening me :-)
All best,

Im having a hard time reporting this issue to the Inkscape forum - Can someone do it for me, please?

Testing...one two three...Is this mic working? I’m using Inkscape v.0.91 on Windows 10 64 bit operating system. When one file is open & I import one image onto the canvas no problem, but import a second image into the same file & Inkscape crashes & closes every time. Is this happening to anyone else using Inkscape running on Windows 10 64 bit operating system. Are the Inkscape powers that be aware of this glitch? Please get back to me. Im having a hard time reporting this issue so If you can take it upon yourself & report it for me, I would appreciate it.

question about power stroke
by Brynn
Hi Friends,
This has probably been discussed somewhere.....but I can't seem to
find much info on either the website or wiki. And of course not
When I'm using the power stroke LPE via Triangle In/Out in Pen or
Pencil tool, it only gives me 1 control node (the pink kind). But if I draw
a regular path, and add the power stroke via LPE editor, I get at least 2
control nodes, usually 3.
I guess that's how it's supposed to be? But I wonder if there's a
way to manually add more control nodes (pink)?
If not, would that be a reasonable feature request? Or is there
some reason why either it wouldn't work or would not be needed? There's a
good chance I don't understand something about it.
Thanks for your help :-)
