Alt key in tutorial

I have just installed 0.44 and am progressing through the Help->tutorials. I notice that all references to the Alt key actually require Ctrl+Alt to have the desired effect. e.g. Alt+drag doesn't work, but Ctrl+Alt+drag does. Is this a change in 0.44 that the tutorial has not yet reflected? Or is there some tuning that I have yet to do?

tutorials cleanup: help needed

We have tutorial-calligraphy.pt_BR.svg in share/tutorials, but no corresponding xml file in the doc-docbook module in SVN. Please _everyone_ who has ever translated the tutorials, upload the docbook xml sources to that module, or send them to someone with SVN commit rights asking him to upload it for you. Without that, we can't for example fix the tutorial-calligraphy.pt_BR.svg file which is badly broken. Also, we have much more tutorial translations in SVG than we have HTML tutorials here: http://inkscape.org/doc/index.php. Please remember that if you submit a new translation, you need to generate not only SVG but also HTML (use the make-html script) to be put up on the web site and linked from that page. (Again, if you don't have commit rights for the web site, ask someone to do it for you.) Volunteers are welcome and encouraged to help us sync this all up for the release. Dear fellow Inkscape friends, I like Inkscape and prefer to draw my slides using Inkscape. I coded a script for easily creating a PDF file out of a set of SVG files that can be used for presentations (each page being a slide). It allows you to create incremental slides, using the xml ID tages of SVG. Using shift+ctrl+o you can easily change these tags. Acrobat reader or evince work great in full screen, and acrobat is available on nearly every computer. I have made everything (programs and manpage) available on a webpage: http://volition.wustl.edu/slides I just finished it, and it works fine for me; however, there might still be some errors in it. SVG not displaying correctly in inkscape

Hi All, I tried to open a small SVG file in inkscape , but it is not displaying correctly .The file is attached here with . The svg is viewing correctly in adobe svg viewer and other editors. All, On Win32 when I use a daily snapshot all menus are not localized. The remain in plain English. (except some buttons from standard dialogs) When I use a previous 0.44 menus gets localized perfectly. So I guess it is not settings related. I mentioned this some times in the chat to get a confirmation or negative response but there was no feedback. Thats why I did not post a defect for this. If this is confirmed to be a bug this is also a must-fix. pls win32-developer or tester give some feedback. Creating gears

Hi, I would like to know if there is a tutorial on how to create gears in Inkscape (I am still using 0.42, but would like to update as soon as I have the new Ubuntu release installed). Hi all, I've added two new categories 'NEEDS CONFIRMATION' and 'NEEDS CONFIRMATION ON SVN HEAD' to our bug tracker, and have begun marking a few bugs that need this. If you have a recent inkscape installation and are on either Win32 or OSX, you can help greatly by seeing if you can recreate these bugs. Please go to this page: http://sourceforge.net/tracker/?group_id=93438&atid=604306 Search on Category = NEEDS CONFIRMATION ON SVN HEAD, and set the Group to the platform you're on. Also look in Groups 'Any' or 'All Platforms'. Try to recreate the problem, and then please write in the comment section if you could or could not reproduce the problem. Some of these are very, very old bugs, so just having people confirm that the bugs are no longer present would be extremely helpful in enabling us to focus on bugs that really need our attention. It's easy to understand when both parties are shapes with area, but when either (or both) are just splines, the results are a little confusing. It certainly doesn't seem to do what I'm after (which is to chop each of my two splines into two pieces)... :-(

Could anyone tell if there's a way to place a new node at the intersection of two straight lines (without converting each line into a shape by adding more nodes, then doing something like path merge/union/intersection on those two shapes etc). install/un-install and 'libXinerama.1.dylib' problem

Hi all, I hope this is the right place to post this, apologies if not. Happy New Year anyway. I had Inkscape (IS) installed a long while ago and it worked ok for a while. I had some novice but useful results. i am using an G4 iBook 933 OSX 10.4.8 After a longer while it became impossible to open either an old or new file in IS. I uninstalled IS but was unsuccessful in my attempts at re-installing for similar reasons as I have just encountered today. Today I have tried to install IS again, all seemed to go ok, but when I started Inkscape up, it got the Apple X11 programme going and then the IS logo appeared in the dock but nothing else whatsoever. I trashed the IS app and now it won't let me delete it from the Trash, even though nothing is open, and shows a trash error msg as follows: 'The operation cannot be completed because the item "libXinerama.1.dylib" is in use.' Does anyone know what may be going on? What solution might there be? Many thanks regards Gareth

Hi folks, I'm trying to work out a way of integrating Inkscape into my workflow. Indesign CS2 doesn't support SVG import. Saving as PDF from Inkscape seems a wee bit flaky - I used a pattern fill in a couple of places, and that had disappeared when I opened the PDF. The EPS export, of course, doesn't support transparency - I suppose I could 'flatten' the transparency somehow, so it appeared to export - but that seems a lot of work. EPS export also seemed to screw up the fonts, but that's no surprise, and I can export them as curves - but it also lost the pattern fills. PNG export works fine, but then I'm up against all the 'issues' of using bitmaps. Ho, hum. Frustrating. Of all the drawing packages I've tried since switching to the Mac, Inkscape is the most promising - far easier to use than Illustrator and with a similar (but better?) feature set. A 'pukka' OS X version would probably answer the PDF export problem, since printing to PDF on the Mac works so well - I often use it where other export methods fall down. I must find a way around this issue - I'm b*gg*r*d if I'm going back to fighting with Illustrator when I need a drawing. Phil
