Problems with pdflatex and inkscape

HI, i created a svg-graphic with inkscape 0.44 (see attachment). I saved it as pdf with transparency. I can view it perfectly with acrobat reader. Than i included the file into a latex-document, which i compiled with pdf-latex. When i reach the site of the resulting document, where the pdf normally shows, acrobat reader says: No resource found. The figure is completly shown, only the text-surrounding boxes are missing... What's wrong? Thank You, Julian

cloned copy fill/stroke

Howdy fellow artists! I've been unsuccessful in something I'd imagine being very common case. I'd like to be able to create editable text with a dropshadow, that would be easily editable. Clones seem an ideal solution for the task. However, I haven't been able to figure out how to change colors of the clone independently from the original. Either I have to keep the original object black (unset property). This works in most cases, as the shadow indeed needs to be black. But I'm unsure if it's safe to depend on 'unset' looking black in other renderers. Cornelius suggested to use the linked offset instead, but that appears to shift the size by default and it's hard to tweak as text usually tends to create very complex paths for interactive scaling. Is there a smarter way way to achieve this? -- Jakub Steiner <jimmac@...469...>

Alt key in tutorial

I have just installed 0.44 and am progressing through the Help->tutorials. I notice that all references to the Alt key actually require Ctrl+Alt to have the desired effect. e.g. Alt+drag doesn't work, but Ctrl+Alt+drag does. Is this a change in 0.44 that the tutorial has not yet reflected? Or is there some tuning that I have yet to do?

tutorials cleanup: help needed

We have tutorial-calligraphy.pt_BR.svg in share/tutorials, but no corresponding xml file in the doc-docbook module in SVN. Please _everyone_ who has ever translated the tutorials, upload the docbook xml sources to that module, or send them to someone with SVN commit rights asking him to upload it for you. Without that, we can't for example fix the tutorial-calligraphy.pt_BR.svg file which is badly broken. Also, we have much more tutorial translations in SVG than we have HTML tutorials here: http://inkscape.org/doc/index.php. Please remember that if you submit a new translation, you need to generate not only SVG but also HTML (use the make-html script) to be put up on the web site and linked from that page. (Again, if you don't have commit rights for the web site, ask someone to do it for you.) Volunteers are welcome and encouraged to help us sync this all up for the release. Dear fellow Inkscape friends, I like Inkscape and prefer to draw my slides using Inkscape. I coded a script for easily creating a PDF file out of a set of SVG files that can be used for presentations (each page being a slide). It allows you to create incremental slides, using the xml ID tages of SVG. Using shift+ctrl+o you can easily change these tags. Acrobat reader or evince work great in full screen, and acrobat is available on nearly every computer. I have made everything (programs and manpage) available on a webpage: http://volition.wustl.edu/slides I just finished it, and it works fine for me; however, there might still be some errors in it. Hi All, I tried to open a small SVG file in inkscape , but it is not displaying correctly .The file is attached here with . The svg is viewing correctly in adobe svg viewer and other editors. All, On Win32 when I use a daily snapshot all menus are not localized. The remain in plain English. (except some buttons from standard dialogs) When I use a previous 0.44 menus gets localized perfectly. So I guess it is not settings related. I mentioned this some times in the chat to get a confirmation or negative response but there was no feedback. Thats why I did not post a defect for this. If this is confirmed to be a bug this is also a must-fix. pls win32-developer or tester give some feedback. Creating gears

Hi, I would like to know if there is a tutorial on how to create gears in Inkscape (I am still using 0.42, but would like to update as soon as I have the new Ubuntu release installed). Bug confirmation needed

Hi all, I've added two new categories 'NEEDS CONFIRMATION' and 'NEEDS CONFIRMATION ON SVN HEAD' to our bug tracker, and have begun marking a few bugs that need this. If you have a recent inkscape installation and are on either Win32 or OSX, you can help greatly by seeing if you can recreate these bugs. Please go to this page: http://sourceforge.net/tracker/?group_id=93438&atid=604306 Search on Category = NEEDS CONFIRMATION ON SVN HEAD, and set the Group to the platform you're on. Also look in Groups 'Any' or 'All Platforms'. Try to recreate the problem, and then please write in the comment section if you could or could not reproduce the problem. Some of these are very, very old bugs, so just having people confirm that the bugs are no longer present would be extremely helpful in enabling us to focus on bugs that really need our attention. Hi there, Im using Inkscape 0.44.1, built Sep 9, 2006 under windows xp. When I try to access the document properties panel -> file -> document properties, the panel does not show up. Is this happening with someone else? Thanks

I just thought that it would be nice to have a procedure which didn't rely of "manual accuracy", if you know what I mean. I've only just noticed that inkscape can be extended using python scripts. I wonder whether inkscape exposes enough of an api to be able to script this particular problem. Time for me to read up on inkscape effects... Jaime

Interesting idea - I've tried it out (with both "Snap nodes to objects", "Snap to object paths" and "Always snap" enabled) but (suprisingly) I still find it very difficult to pin new nodes exactly on the intersection point...

Yeah, I've just spent some time trying to work out exactly what "cut path" does. It's easy to understand when both parties are shapes with area, but when either (or both) are just splines, the results are a little confusing. It certainly doesn't seem to do what I'm after (which is to chop each of my two splines into two pieces)... :-(
